Severe Load Failure

Post » Fri Dec 17, 2010 10:21 am

So I got Fallout: New Vegas at GameStop with the pre-order promotion and I enter the New Vegas strip with my Lv23 character that I've spent nearly 59 hours, 16 minutes, and 30 seconds playing with... and then I save the game, did some things I didn't want to do and attempted to re-load my game save (including autosave) and was told "This save game relies on downloadable content that is no longer available. Some objects may be no longer available. Continue loading?" "Yes" "The storage device you selected is no longer available. Load cancelled" "........Ok"

Then it proceeds to laugh at me as it loads me straight into the main menu and my game may as well be a corrupted save game. Before you get any ideas, no, I DID NOT delete my promotional content like the game claims I have...
This isn't the first time I've encountered an annoying bug, sometimes my companions would disappear or stop moving entirely, sometimes someone who was supposed to be somewhere for a quest wasn't there, rendering my quest impossible to complete, but this takes the cake... I honestly have to ask, do you people test your games enough? I'm getting the impression that you do not... Theres more frequent bugs in Fallout: New Vegas than there ever was in Fallout 3... someone(s) has really dropped the ball this time.

Please tell me my game save is salvageable! If not, I think this is the last game I'm purchasing from Bethesda.

I will hold onto my game save in case someone knows how to resolve this issue OR if the next title update fixes it, either action would be nice.

yeah i'm having the exact same problem. I suppose my only saving grace is that I only have 10 hours of play behind me but I will be crushed if I have to start again. I even went back to a previous save when I was 8 and half hours in and could play that so when I did and then saved it I could then not load that game!

This is unbelievable and I cannot believed this game was released with the huge amount of problems they have. Fallout 3 was the best game I have ever played and I was soooooooooo looking forward to this game like you wouldn't believe.

Come on Bethesda - people talk and this could damage your reputation beyond repair

I am having a total failure on this. I am in the vault on 'hard luck blues'. Both of my saves and the autosave are corrupted with the 'downloadable content no found' followed by the 'hard disk not found'. If I exit the game, and load any save game it simply freezes on the load screen.

I am really honked off about this, I am 24 hours in and am level 20. I am going to be really angry if I have lost everything. Things first started going pear shaped for me with occassional freezes, but particularly when I tried to buy playing cards (not anything else) from the wandering trader at the NCR Mojave outpost, the game crashes.

Here is how I have tried to fix it:
I have deleted the update; no change.
I have deleted the downloadable 'classic' pack; no change.
I have deleted the game from the 360 hard disk and run the game off the disk; no change.
I have reinstalled the game, the patch and the DLC; no change.

I have never seen game that is so broken. Ever.

You're not the only one having this problem, waiting for the same answer and wondering the same thing.
