Has anyone been backing up their saves? And has it helped pr

When I played through Fallout 3 GOTY, I backup all the Xbox 360 HD saves to a new folder on the memory stick after each gaming session, in case my saves got corrupted in any way or something went wrong.

So I'm wondering, for Fallout New Vegas, has anyone else been backing up their saves, and if so, have they had the DLC corrupted gamesave glitch, and then successfully rescued the game by restoring an older set of gamesaves from a USB memory stick?

Surely if you backed up all your gamesaves to a USB memory stick after each gaming session, then had the bug happen, it could only corrupt the gamesaves on the Xbox 360 hard drive, so you could just delete them all from the hard drive, and restore the latest previous set of saves from the USB stick, and only lose one gaming session?

This is exactly what i've been doing. After each session I copy my latest 2 saves onto a USB which I then disconnect from the XBOX.

Uhhhh.... how about there shouldn't BE a DLC gamesave bug in the first place? Tell Bethesda to man up and fix this bug once and for all.

I agree completely. It's unacceptable that there should be any game-breaking bugs at all. But I pre-ordered the game, and I don't want to play it until a patch is released to fix it, but then we don't know when that patch will be released, and even if it does fix it, we don't know if the patch itself will cause other problems. So in the mean time it would be nice to know if restoring backed up saves does actually work, so I could play the game with piece of mind.

I have tried several variations on this and posted the results last weekend. A few other folks tried it, as well.

It doesn't work.

I think it's the game's load/save routine that starts choking, not the actual saves themselves. Once that happens, it doesn't matter where you store them, it still chokes.

But if that's the case, what about deleting all FNV data from the hard drive (including game data, game updates, gamesaves etc), reinstalling the game and updates, and then copying the older gamesaves across? Might that work?

Also, if it's the load/save routine that's going wrong, and if the "corrupted" gamesaves themselves are actually ok, then maybe if and when they bring a patch out to fix the problem then the people who already have "corrupted" gamesaves might be able to start using those gamesaves after all?

Either way it's looking like I'll be sticking to playing other games until a patch does come out.

Sorry to seem like a wet blanket, but yeah, I tried wiping any/all parts of the game off the HDD and reloaded, then reloaded saves. At times, single saves (so the game sees only one save at any one time). Still goes belly up.

I have suspected all along (and said as much) that the saves aren't actually corrupt. Against that, I saved my latest "corrupt" save (~32 hours) and my latest "good" save (~31 hours) off to a memory card just in case.

Damn, what a shame. Ah well, thanks anyway, at least it's good to know that it won't work.
