Objects not staying in their default locations

With no mods enabled the fridge and cabinet won't stay put.

I first noticed it when I started working on my mod, A Suitre at the Novac. I didn't pursue the problem because I didn't need that space as I was replacing it.
However, it does it even if I have only FalloutNV.esm enabled.
Any ideas?

I am not sure what you mean by "won't stay put". When you have *no mods* enabled not even your own, do you see these objects floating? Do you see these objects moving around, or do you just mean that they are not on the floor? If it is only your mod, and only that they are not on the floor, I also find it hard to place objects exactly. You may know the "F" key which causes an object to fall to the floor. Does that help?

As can be seen in the screenshot I linked, the fridge has moved to the left side of the room so it is occupying the same space as the dresser. The cabinet has moved about 4 feet to the right. This is with no mods enabled. I first noticed this when I was first working on my mod. No matter where I put those items in the GECK, they kept moving to the locations seen in the screenshot while in game. That screenshot was taken with no mods loaded.

Do you have grid snap turned on? When you look closely at the view in the render window in geck, are you sure that the position is exactly where you want? I am not aware of any problem with items randomly shifting, but I certainly have trouble moving them exactly in the geck render window. "F" should put them exactly on the floor.

Okay, I only use the snap to grid for setting walls and the like,. Anyway, that only effects things in the GECK, not in game. Items left floating in air in the GECK will simply drop to the ground if you touch them in game, not shift 4 feet to the side, assuming the object is movable in the first place, which almost all containers are not. I have used FO3 Edit to remove any mention of the cell "NovacPlayersRoom" from my mod, not that it makes any difference as the problem happens with no mods loaded.

I'm reaching a little more now, but is it possible that the nif file for the refrigerator object itself has been changed? I assumed you meant the problem happens with only your mod, but now I understand it happens with no mod. So the only thing I can think of is a change in the coordinate offsets in the nif. I'm not an expert in nif but perhaps you can check if you have any locally modified nifs in your FNV directory.
