I read something while I was messing around on Fo3 forums has anyone ever tried this:

Fo3: GOTY and NV have about the exact same problems with the cache so I was wondering if this still works and if any one has ever tried it. Thought this might help keep the freezes/crashes from occurring so much. At this point I think we should try anything.
