Full Maintenance

Has anyone checked if Raul's full maintenance perk actually does anything now after the patch? I'm on the xbox or else I would.

I finished off a playthrough real quick ( I was having severe issues pre-patch) and recruited him quickly before returning to vegas, and during the end he died (hardcoe mode). it said I had the perk, but I don't know if it was actually working because I was busy killing things and what-not, but I never had to repair anything as far as I can remember, but I went in there with almost everything in perfect condition.

I was hoping for something a little more concrete. Anyone with Raul upgraded to have full maintenance could test this without too much trouble. Just find a weapon that is really damaged but still usable, and save. Then use it until it breaks with Raul in your party. Then load, dismiss Raul, and use it until it breaks again. Count the number of uses each time until it breaks and see if it changed.
This has been bugging me as I found out that the perk didn't work recently and that was the thing I thought was awesome about Raul.

Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but with you saying that Raul died at the end makes me believe you didn't finish the game since companions aren't allowed to accompany you at the end. Also hardcoe mode has nothing to do with difficulty or anything so why would someone die due to it?

Anyways to the OP I will do your ide and tell you if I notice any difference.

When I spawned in Hoover dam Raul was there, I didn't know he wasn't supposed to be, but I swear he was. he died before I even made it to the first building, so I don't know how far he would have gone, but I figured if he couldn't go 50 feet without getting gunned down I minus well go on without him.

also yes companions die in hardcoe mode. look it up...

It was obviously a glitch on your end though with him spawning into the final battle with you, maybe he died because the game realized he wasn't supposed to be there? I am playing on hardcoe mode and haven't played on any other mode so I wasn't aware that companions dying was specific to hardcoe mode I just figured that if they died then they died lol.

@OP:

I tried your idea and didn't notice any difference

@ unwinding:

What does that have to do with anything? Also I have the original PS3 and it seems to me like it is still supported (I get system updates, all patches, and their repair service will still repair my PS3), so you are wrong.

Crap sounds like it's still a broken perk. That svcks because normal maintenance does work. So by "upgrading" Raul I just made him useless... sigh. Also, it recently started saying on the wiki that this was fixed in the latest patch... I wonder if they didn't bother to actually confirm that. You are using the current patch right?

You are in the PS3 forums btw. So honestly asking people here might not be a good idea because there may be different outcomes on the different platforms. But, yes I do have the current patch, however I tested on a save that was from pre-patch, so maybe the glitch is stuck in my save file? If you give me a few days I could try on a new character.

Ya, it could be different on the xbox, but I kinda doubt it will. The patch comes out tomorrow supposedly for xbox so I'll test this out a bit myself then I guess, but it's not looking good. Anyway thanks for checking that out.

Well, I tested it out today and the perk does seem to be working now, at least on xbox. Maybe it was because I dismissed Raul, then rehired him, and then tested it out? Who knows, but its definitely working for me now with the patch.
