Securitrons in The Big Empty? : Fallout: New Vegas

I Was reading about The Big Empty in The Vault and it says Elijah came Across Securitrons, And if im not mistaken he mentionied them in Dead Money, What were Securitrons doing There??

they are probably part of the defence system of the facility at this point onlly the devs know
