"Vegas in general is a place that is not for kids"

Post » Sun Jan 30, 2011 9:23 am

1. Can you kill kids in Fallout: New Vegas?
Nope. “For children, I said these guys have to be very well mannered and not irritating to the player, and there has to be something where the players don’t want to kill them or be enticed to try to kill them,” says Sawyer. “So they’re around, but Vegas in general is a place that is not for kids.”

Read that and was just thinking is there any place in a post-apocalyptic place that is for kids?

All kids are needed for is so that the human race don't go extinct. If there are no kids, there will be no Fallout 4.

yes good point. but i hate it when people say there is one person u cant kill in the game then it must be a kid. well theres going to be more than one kid and u cant kill kids in general. so everyone stop thinking its a damn child. the one person in the game u cant kill is an advlt and must be some importance to the main story line

If there's one place you would want to take care of kids in this type of world it would be an infirmary or hospital. *hint :whisper:

It would mean that Vegas (that is, the main focus of it in the story, The Strip) is not a place where someone in their right mind would raise children.

Pretty much this. Kids obviously don't count as people.

Also, I thought childkilling is not allowed to be discussed?

In a recent preview it's confirmed that there is more than one kid.

I always wondered why Bethesda didn't let people kill children. Maybe they thought it could be controversial? Anyway, I don't want a Bryan Wilks-like child that runs after me and forces me to start a conversation for a quest. Gosh, I found that so annoying. The first time he talked to me, I was like "Wtf, leave me alone!".

The children from Lil Lamplight were the only ones that were really annoying and snobby, I wanted to nuke that place.

There will probably be more places like that run by kids.

pickpockets and they have a ring leader. They steal from you, sometimes it's even quest items.
In a cut quest you can help getting a building secure so it can become an orphanage,

What he was alluding to in the Interview you qouted are that kids in this game are kind of out of the way. It was stated in a previous interview that kids are not someone you need to interact with for any reason, I am assuming quest related reasons. I am sure that you could probably say hi to them and ask a few questions. The kids that you do see are probably only in one or two areas and are more background "extras" than anyone you really interact with. Could be that you find a few in some of the out of the way settlements.

A Perk like Child at Heart is probably not even going to exist in this game.

I would think that even the option of child killing would get the game into serious cencorship problems, but it's good if they give little motives for child killing. Just shut up and keep your hands off my pockets, kids, and you'll be fine.

All kids are needed for is so that the human race don't go extinct. If there are no kids, there will be no Fallout 4.

I don't see any reason to jump to the conclusion that people will go extinct just because it's a difficult place for kids. Maybe many kids die, but some of them eventually grow up. And no, not all kids are needed. With some suspension of disbelief, it's not terribly difficult to accept that there's not that many kids around that will cross paths with the player.

Fallout 4 might not be in the future.... That is to say, instead of having 4 follow NV in the timeline, it could be designed to come early in the timeline, maybe before the events of FO1 even....
