Q6600 @ 3.6 - Ultra?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 5:42 pm

I have a Q6600 running overclocked at 3.6 for years. Its been able to play everything Ive thrown at it.

My question is can it run Skyrim on ultra settings at 1920 by 1800 paired with a GTX 460 or do i need to retire it? Retiring it means getting an i5-2500K with new motherboard, ram and a fresh install of windows 7. So its a big decision. I just want to be able to play this game with all the eye candy. Don't care about other titles.

Anyone playing on a Q6600?

my specs are :

q6700 (stock 2.66ghz)
8gb ddr2 667mhz (stock)
gtx460 (stock)
ocz 700w psu
intel bad axe 1 motherboard
vista home pre 64 bit

I am able to run the game in 1080p rez (1920 x 1080p ) all on ultra with AA set to 4x all runs well with no lagg , so cut a long story short you should be fine with your rig if its better then mine .

I have a Q9450 @ 3,2 Ghz, and the game is barely even scratching my CPU. The highest load I've seen on it has been around 60% in Skyrim.

Thanks. Yah i have a similar setup - except 6gb. Don't want to go through an upgrade and complete re-install for one title - even if it is an elder scrolls game ! Going to go out and buy it..hopefully the processor will cut it !.
