I randomly found this dagger. Its crud, 7 dmg. Is it a quest item later on, can I improve it, or should I just drop it. Its not even worth the time to go sell... 18 gold

It has a 25% critical chance. Not worth using though, just a named item with a insignificant special effect.

Isn't it for the finding the apprentices quest at the college?

I found that this dagger upgraded to legendary does more damage than any of the other daggers upgraded to legendary status.

Even more than a Legendary Daedric Dagger? I use Daedric and Ebony weapons for the most part. I have never run into this dagger though. I have found several dragon priest daggers that I just use as collectibles for around the 4 houses I have...

This one and the lucky dagger for some reason. I'm not sure about the daedric but I'll check it out & post some pics.

Okay, here it is. From most damaging to least damaging. I couldn't post a pic of Rundi's dagger, because it's stuck in Hjerim's dagger case but the lucky dagger does exactly the same thing with equivalent damage. It's better than most.

I cleared a cave of Spriggans just north of Falkreath for him and got his journal back. He was outside of the cave.

Rundi is one of four missing apprentices that one of the Mages at the college talks about. It seems to be a quest, but there's no journal entry, and finding all the items does nothing. May have been something that was cut.

It belonged to a missing College of Winterhold apprentice. There are three or four, but I don't know whether it's a formal quest or a "Oh, that's what happened to them" thing. I talked to one of the mages at the CoW and got told about them, but I didn't get a quest in my journal. However, I may have just used the right conversation topics with him.
