Saddest thing you saw

Post » Sun Aug 09, 2009 2:32 pm

The whole game is sad, a lament to a failed race. It has a special resonance for anyone who grew up during the cold war.

This.

The holotape to Little Moonbeam from her dad.
And, yeah... the Mr. Gutsy reading the poem to the child's skeleton...

Watching a Mr.Handy read the little dead boy "There will come soft rains" :sad:

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;
And frogs in the pool singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white;
Robins will wear their feathery fire,
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;
And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.
Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
If mankind perished utterly;
And Spring herself when she woke at dawn
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

The saddest thing i'd have to report seeing is a random dog out in the middle of nowhere (actually it was near the monument) and seeing 3 super mutant masters massacre it. :sad:

Anyways, later i took out my Fat man and nuked the hell out of all the mutants.

If the raiders did it the kids would have to be 200 years old.

Well, the skeleton could have been thrown there by the raiders, or the raiders could have captured children THat doesn't mean they are 200 years old.

My saddest moment? killing everyone in megaton and entering someone's home, then realizing I had been relyig on an autosave...

I think what saddens me is being forced to choose between mass-murdering most of the population of Vault 112, or participating in "Betty's" sick little Pint Sized Slasher game.

That and the life of a Little Lamplighter: you spend your childhood hiding in a cave and eating icky fungus, then you get thrown out and wind up either in Paradise Falls's slave pens or some super mutant's belly. Sick and wrong.

The skeletons are brown and decaying and show no sign of being recently killed.

It doesn't take all that long for someones corpse to rot and than be a brown and decaying skeleton...about 50-75 years.

Spoiler
The only one who dies activating the purifier is Sara. Neither you nor any of the three followers who can activate the purifier will die if they do it. So I only send in Sara on an evil playthough, and I do it myself or send in Fawkes, Charon, or RL-3 on a neutral or good playthrough.

Spoiler
What's worse is that you find out the son was killed in an FEV experiment. The vault officials just marked him as "missing" in an attempt to cover it up.

Off of the top of my head i can't really think of something sad i saw, because i haven't seen the peom being read to the dead child yet. However i felt bad/sad when i took Bumble from Little Lamplight outside to the child slaver. After that I said to myself "Wow I'm a total *******."

The saddest thing I saw was when I returned to Vault 101, seeing the robot hovering over a corpse, covered in blood. The poor lady just had a sprained toe...

I cried... because it was so funny. Still gotta love Andy. :) And that was Beatrice... who gives a 10 year old a poem for his/her birthday? <_<

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but seeing those two skeletons spooning on the Gibson House bed is kinda sad... I can assume that was just before the bombs fell. But what's worse, it turns out Gibson himself was at work -- who was this other guy?

I don't suppose you can destroy Andy before you leave Vault 101, just to make sure he can't do that horrible thing to Beatrice (OK, she's a goober, but still).

I finally got to the McClellen Townhouse... you're right, that bit with the robot reading the poem to the dead kid was a real tearjerker... war is so freaking insane.

Andy is BAD! He wrecked my birthday cake! He wrecked Beatrice! He needs to be chopped into spare parts and traded to the Outcasts for 5.56 ammo.
