We Seriously Paid For This?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 3:41 pm

So i was one of the first to know about Skyrim being made, ever since Oblivion was released. i also have been a BIG fan since Morrowind, i have been waiting for this game for literally years, as many of you have as well, i know MANY of you also waited for the midnight release, as well as myself, just like others i get the game and jump into it happily... BUT as soon as i am in the cart going for the chopping block i notice slight FPS lag, i think nothing of it, and honestly my PS3 isnt too new anyway i get to close to the copping block and we are all about to get out of the wagon, before we stop i look around and BAM, FPS drops to a crawl and my game freezes.

Now i understand my PS3 is old but this is the condition it is in for its age, first of all i have had it for almost 3 years, during those 3 years 2 complete years and some months it was only turned on maybe 15 times, the reason being.. i had no games for it and had a 360 and a PC, so whenever i really got to using my PS3 more than anything else it was still it top shape, which wasn't too long ago, so i expect my "Fat" PS3 to be one of the better conditioned ones.

Anyway the matter here being that i myself have experienced a countless number of glitches i would now like to elaborate for you.

1, initial game freeze as soon as i started the very first time.

2, FPS slowing to a crawl

3, Weapon changing lag as well as spell changing lag(Can be devastating in a tough situation.)

4, in house objects dropping through their support structures (tables, walls, even the floor itself.)

5, (My Favorite) Attacks completely missing the target regardless of how accurate and close to them i am, this being the most frequent.
Ex. 1, I cast a duel wield spell on my target, it hits the first time, stumbling them, during their stumble phase i can no longer manage to hi them with a spell.
Ex. 2, attacks with a sword in rapid succession causes my attack to only hit once or twice while i have swung 5 times.

6, NPC's being stuck halfway in and out of a doorway or a wall.

7, (Also a good one i just found) A few enemies i HAVE killed some how appear back alive with full or half health(No necromancers or other enemies around) it also happens nearly instantly after i kill them.

8, Wearing the "Arch Mage" outfit along with a face peace such as the mask "Morokei" make my face invisible, literally i can see through to the wall behind me.

9, Many quests not even showing up, such as the "Blood on the Ice" quest, i cant even get this quest to begin, in the book it tells you that you need to enter and exit Windhelm 4 times then the quest begins in the graveyard, no such quest has begun for me and i would like to purchase the house there, as i believe it to be the best available one for purchase.

10, Shouts periodically not working.

Now i know that that is a pretty long list of glitches just from my point of view, their are also many more i cannot even remember, i know many of you experienced these without a doubt, i also know their are many more you have experienced that i myself have not.

Though let me make it clear that their are just as many problems on 360, PC also has a few issues but unlike console they are not game ruining problems.

Come on guys, we all knew the game was set to release this year and we were patiently waiting for the announcment, then like a missile exploding their was interviews everywhere countless reviews stories debates and Todd Howard smiling like a cheetah lol. i expected to see what i was being told and i did i honestly did, but the further you get into the game the more it degrades and becomes un playable, maybe not so much unplayable as unenjoyable, the fact being these problems were known, you cant build a game like this and not know about such issues, it has problems guys.. we waited MANY years for it. why all of a sudden do we have to purchase it and find that it has hardly even touched beta level??

In my personal experience this is UNACCEPTABLE.

I know their are patches being made asap, but it has taking you a very short time to make the 1.2 patch. which leads me to believe that you have known about these MAJOR problems and been working on them since BEFORE the release, which also further angers me and all of the community.

Now then, that is a problem as i suspect it does not fix the FPS problem and more than likely isnt the drastic patch needed to make us all enjoy the game the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

ATTENTION EVERYONE WITH DRASTIC FPS DROPS
This link will send you to a post made yesterday by a user who found a video on youtube explaining how to make the game drastically better with the FPS drops,

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1277560-a-solution-to-lag-found-on-youtube/

Honestly the video does not help in the least but if you follow the methods he explains you WILL see a much better improvement in game quality with no visual changes that i personally have noticed, the game still looks great but hasnt got as much lag as it did before, at least not so much that i just turn it off.

~My Stats~
Lvl: 31
Hours: 79
Race: High Elf
MB usage: 12MBs

I hope i have helped some of you by bringing this old post back up and i hope the solution to all of our problems is found and implemented as soon as possible.
Bethesda i love your games i love your efforts but please do not ever release such a broken game again, we couldnt wait to get our copy of Skyrim and now look at the backlash from the community for the faults that have been made.

Thank you all for the time you spent reading this

Yeah, this game seriously needs another good six months of polish. They have all the nuts and bolts in place, and the structure is sound, but the engine still has kinks that need to be found and fixed. Its a shame that this is what the video game industry has been reduced to. It used to be that companies actually had a proper bug testing phase and not a "Hurry up and push it out the door so we can make some money!" phase. <_<

Yeah i cant stand the way this game was handled, without a doubt it was unfinished when it was released and still had many more months of improvement before being release worthy. :l

Paid? I got the CE addition for the PS3 and also picked up my wife a copy for her PC lol

Sure her version may work, but at least I have an Alduin statue ;)

But see, that's what happens when a cool date like 11/11/11 comes around and a company speeds to release it on that day to attain more sales. These days, companies often bank on getting those day one sales figures as high as they possibly can. This practice is partially due to the fact that these companies know their game is bugged and won't sell well after the first few weeks. Skyrim has the added support of having a V in its titles, and The Elder Scrolls prefacing it. People will end up buying Skyrim expecting to have a quality game, only to find out that they were short changed. I really wish laws could be imposed upon companies that could protect customers from poor quality. When a customer pays $60 for a video game, they expect that video game to come polished to a value that is worth $60. Not polished to $30 worth, and then patched weeks later up to maybe $50. :shakehead:

I didnt think of the importance of 11.11.11 till i thought more into it, i see now how that without a doubt rushed them into a release, this game should have been a 2012 release, i think that they lost their 2011 Game of The Year, maybe not, but if they had just put it out early next year with most of the problems fixed they definitely would have got 2012 game of the year.

lols, i would be mad about that too XD

No need to release that game so late but also no need to release it 2-3 months before it is actually complete.

Something is wrong with the game i cant finish the Civil War quest for one none of my troops showed up to location at the fort
and i have 5% remaining enemies there but they really arent there ive waited
and reset my ps3 and still nothing.
Also im suppose to return a ring to viola in windhelm but i cant sneak it in her drawer and thats what the quest tells me to do.
its says i cant drop the quest item im suppose to drop?
My biggest problem is the lag.
Once you get more than 8mb everything goes down hill.
