Snarled Programs-Help!

Post » Sat Aug 15, 2009 7:48 am

Hi! I recently re-built my Machine and thought that I'd try to play Morrowind again. I've loaded/installed it to the normal Win7 section; but, read on here that it needs to be installed in a separate location so tried to install it there. It may be installed in the wrong place, or I didn't do it right. I've also installed some basic mods that I used to play with and like and I then installed Wrye's WMSA. Everything is/was working until I tried to guide WM to the alt MW location. Now when I open WMSA it locks. I can play MW; just not through the Mash prog. I also can't open any of the ini/configuration files to change any of the lines like I used to. Any help will be greatly app, May The Nine be with you.

I think you got it wrong about Wrye's WMSA... that's Melchor's Wrye Mash Stand Alone version of Wrye's Wrye Mash version. :stare:

What ever you do don't install (games or tools) it to any C:\Program Files related folders and http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/ can you find more information. You can try http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1160734-morrowind-goty-ctd-before-reaching-main-menu-screen/page__view__findpost__p__17060620. :)

Hi! Leonardo2!

Yes! I was aware that it was Melchors. I was reading the posts about it. And the link that you gave is the one that got me in trouble. LoL. Dummie me probably didn't read it right. I have uninstalled it and removed the other copy that I made and now it's working again; but, everything is in the "default" directory. Also, is there a way that I can open the ini file so I can make changes? Win 7 isn't allowing me to do it. Also, I would like t;o know if there is a way that I can install my disk onto my HD so I don't have use it. It is quite old and I'm afraid it's losing it's ability to read it's files correctly

That was not my intention to give you a linking trouble :hehe:
I assume the "everything is in the default directory" is Morrowind right.?

You can read these http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1134570-morrowind-options-and-play-wont-work/page__view__findpost__p__16616928 of how to avoid installation of Morrowind into the default folder (C:\Program Files).
Yes, there is a solution for it http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=63117#p63117 and http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=65738#p65738. :read:

Hi! Leonardo2!

I hope that you weren't thinking that I was upset with you, your link, and especially your attempt at helping me. I have a mental illness and I often find that the way I see/interpret things leads me into complications. Especially with others. Many get frustrated in these attempts. My bungling, is a never ending source of humor for me; however, often what I say or do is miss-interpreted by others. It is not their fault; but, mine. So! When someone takes the "extra" time, often going out of their way to help me, it is very much appreciated and reflects the type of person they are.. There have been many here in the past that were aware of my condition and still helped. They will forever have a warm place within me. Playing video games is something that I can do and gives me hours of rec time. I Also think that it's quite good for me too. Morrowind has given not hours but years of pleasure so it is important to me to get this fixed so I can play it on my new machine. I built it myself by-the-way, so I take a lot of pride in my accomplishments considering...

Any way, All my files are back into, program files x86,/Bethesda Softworks/Morrowind, and whether that is the proper location or not I don't know; but, everything seems to work, at least I can play Morrowind. I still get an error/lock-up when I try to close WMSA, however, I have eliminated that by opening it as Administrator.

I want you to know that I thank you very, very much and I will definitely check these other link. that you have provided.
