No Sound after Bethesda Logo

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 4:31 pm

Confirmed. The following also worked for me.

I got the same message - that I had the most up to date directx. So i downloaded the full installer (not the web one):

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8109

extracted files and ran the DXSETUP file - this reinstalled directX and I have sound now! Off to see if this gets me past the carts too...

Thanks all for the info!

Vista 64 bit (dunno if this fixes it for Win 7 guys)

I hate to say it but I am running win7 and anytime I try to run it, it gives me an error (An internal error, check .log) But my log just says "Already installed" or "A newer version of this is already installed" so I don't know, if you got any thoughts let me know. I really want to play this damn game.

*edit* I have tried BOTH installer and web-based, neither of which could finish without that error.

Just choose a temporary directory somewhere. You then need to navigate to that directory and run the DXSETUP from there.

Is there a method to remove the old Directx? It seems not to work with windows7 otherwise.

Thank you, this worked for me and I can now enjoy the game. Cart scene with the prisoners worked as well.

BUMP! still no sound, with the web installer i got the latest version installed msg and with the full installer i got an interal error and it says to check my directx logs in my windows folder. haven't checked those cuz i have no idea what i would be looking for. would love to play them game i spent $60 on. seriously this is why people talk [censored] about pc gaming.

EDIT: k just tried the game and it worked, i still got those messages on the DirectX stuff I im not sure what happened. or if it just fixed itself, what ever though i can play!!!

MightyMike, you are truly a god. Thank you. I'm finally able to enjoy this game. I've been playing for the last seven hours, and so far haven't had a single crash or game-breaking bug since this was fixed.

Windows 7 64bit
amd Duel core 2.8
Nvidia 440 graphics
Realtech sound card

I cant hear anything after the Bethsidia startup logo. ive taken to just playing with no audio but the game randomly crashes. the only way ive gotten around the crash is to save every 5-10 min
this is getting really annoying. this game is getting dull with all these bugs for Pc!!!!

Edit: I will try the Directx fix but i think ive already installed 9.0c

Anyone have any other possible fixes for the no sound w/ Realtek sound card issue?
