I've tried all these settings, and played extensively with them off. While it improves stability shortly after you've restarted your PS3, after 4+ hours of gameplay, for me, the same problems begin to surface. I am also no computer engineer, but a memory leak does sound like a reasonable problem.
The reason none of us have EXACTLY the same problem is probably due to how we play the game(if a memory leak is the problem). People who take breaks often or play in a way that doesn't tax the system have minor issues (for example, stay in a certain area of Skyrim/don't fast travel often). While those who play for long hours and go crazy in Skyrim, probably have more pronounced issues.
Again, I'm just speculating.
I also noticed that playing the game offline, without the PS3 connected to the internet, seems to delay the problem a while longer than if you were connected.
