You may be onto something here, though I have only my condolences to offer to Slim users if it's correct; I'm using a Pro model, pre-HDMI output and the textures are fine for me playing off the disc.

Well I have a 2010 Xbox 250Gb S console and I too had the texture issues when on HDD for hands and other objects. This then went away running from disc but was replaced but some very low res environment textures. I installed to a flash drive and I no longer have hand or environment texture issues. BUT I do randomly get one or two items showing up in very low res textures when viewing that item in the apparel menu, but not when shown in the actual game world, weird. Even weirder is that 5 minutes later I open menu again and there it is displayed fully and another object is now shown in lower resolution textures lol. However none (as far as I can tell) of the game world textures are noticeable bad, they all look pretty gd. A lot better than from HDD or disc alone.

I'm getting the texture issue whether installed or playing from disk. Mostly just on my hands. It's opening the menu that usually compounds it. It's annoying, but not huge. I imagine they'll figure it out sooner or later.

I'm using a 20 gig Pro model from 2006 and my texture issues have been minimal. Still working off disc.

Mhmn. I'm using one of those large, cumbersome white Xbox's and the texture issue persists.

I do hope Bethesda is able to pinpoint the issue and patch it up for all Xbox models.

I'm still using my original that never red ringed. I've put in 14 or so hours and haven't seen any graphical problems or bugs. Guess i'm lucky :)

Well, then I guess my theory is dead in the water.

I guess there is no common factor for the texture issue. People on different XB360 models using different methods to play are all experiencing the issue.

I hope Bethesda figures this out and fixes it SOON.

If it is fixed, does that mean the textures will finally look good? (I'm using a three month old Slim, not installed to HDD/Disc Drive). Because to be honest, I'm taking a break from Skyrim until the patch comes out. I can't stand being in the small cramped areas/cities when all I can see is masses of pixels and blur.

Though it still calls at me to play it... :sadvaultboy:

Try clearing your cache, that is what I did before playing.

How exactly do you clear it? I know in Oblivion you did something like, "Hold A while game is loading" (I'm on Xbox, and never had to clear it before in OB).

Go to your xbox system settings / memory page, highlight the storage device you want to clear and hit Y.

You may also have to re-download some updates.

I think the massive variation of this low-texture bug is simply due to some overlooked coding during development. This is NOT a 360 HDD sourced problem ,it is a bug within the game which is manifesting differently between copies. I installed the game (on my 360) and had low textures straight away - most prominent was on my characters hands. I tried uninstalling and playing from disk and if anything it was actually worse with some nasty jarring cropping up and some funky looking shadows along with the low-textures. I then installed to my separate USB and again I was afflicted with some nasty looking textures pretty much everywhere at this point. I decided to reinstall to my HDD and carry on and just try not to stare at those low-textures, but suddenly things started to improve. My characters hands now look normal, the items in my menu look great and character clothing looks defined now. So whereas others on this forum started out with high-res textures which eventually deteriorated, I myself and I suspect many others have experienced the complete opposite. However, I must add that the walls, especially in Windhelm seem to be suffering the most and not improving. I don't think I've seen low-res graphics like this in a while on a 360 release. Oblivion textures were better than what I am seeing here, so I'm guessing this is not what Bethesda intended, and that Windhelm is simply suffering heavily from this in-game graphics bug. It is also worth mentioning that this is NOT exclusive to the 360, I have seen the exact same low-res graphics on PS3 and have also played a copy of Skyrim on a PC boasting a rather superb spec (rich friends with large amounts of time - swine!) and again the exact same low-res textures were present. I really hope Bethesda treat this as an issue spread across all systems rather than trying to sort out some supposed 360 HDD link, which I fear might not actually be the route of the problem here. In fact it quite blatantly is not a 360 HDD issue, seeing as these same problems ARE occurring on PS3 versions (albeit slightly less often from what I see) *scratches head*.

Using a Jasper model and installed to flash drive, Dragon textures vanished whilst in fight as well as hand textures on a separate occasion a restart cured this

I have a launch 360 Elite and skyrim looks terrible so it doesn't matter if your 360 is old or new.

Halo 3 Special Edition 360 (I believe it has the Falcon chipset) and I've got the issue while running on the disc (never installed). It was perfectly fine until about 10hrs in, and then textures started messing up.

After watching a few videos of the PS3 version, I don't think I'm experiencing any texture issues - at least not to the magnitude that others have.

I've only played from the disc on an Xbox 360 S 4GB, if it matters.

I think we can knock this on the head - it doesn't matter how old, slim or fat, what colour your XBox is - you can still get these issues.

Also, it doesn't matter whether you run from disk, HD or USB - you can still get these issues.

I've actually got it to work. I have a 360 slim and found that if I delete the installed game on my hard drive, turn my console off and then back on and then clear my hard drive cache as soon as I turn my xbox on and then run the game straight from the disk (and DON'T re-install) the textures load properly and remain that way regardless of whether or not I enter and exit the menu screens.

If you're unsure how to do this here is the link that explains how to do it:

I have a modern warfar 2 elit and I also am missing the fine detail texture layers from my hands and many parts of the environments.

I have had no problems at all~

Xbox 360 black slim, cleared cache before playing, did not install to the HDD~

The only times i ever get any texture problems, and it happens to all the games i play on Xbox, is if i use it for too long and it becomes hot~
Maybe your Xbox fan(s) arnt what they used to be?

I'm using a brand new xbox (I just replaced my dying one) it only has MAYBE 30 hours or so on it. Also it's a slim model. This doesn't have anything to do with heating issues.
