I think everyone is getting it to some degree install or not, me, its not too bad, something like a dresser will be bland on the surface but all the items on top of it are crystal clear.
My theory (conspiracy) is this IS the way the game is meant to be shipped to work properly with no loading issues etc, and that Bethesda would see if people minded, now that we all mind (to put it mildly) then they will fix it soon hopefully.

Some friends that don't have HDMI input, aren't getting the texture problem, i was thinking that it MAY have something to do with it.

Any luck?

Nothing. In fact, I played the game for 4 hours straight (off the disc) hoping that the caching would catch on and improve graphics steadily. If anything, they got worse. Windhelm is a pile of brown and grey pixels/blur, and the other textures... well. Let's just say that Morrowind fans with this glitch got something back from that game. :P

This thread needs to be deleted as it is entirely wrong.

This is an ingame BUG for all xboxes.

I am playing on an older version. It has an HDMI port so not so old. Bad texture issuses like veryone else. Playing on a memory stick and the game looks amazing. So how come it plays on a memory stick and not the HDD? Well it is some hardware issue for sure. Not sure if this can be fixed with a patch or not.

About the "B" button being pressed alot. I notice when I hit the B key to get to the menu, at first it's fast, but after playing for a few hours, the "lag" I have to wait before I can go up/down/left/right gets longer and longer. I went to dashboard and restarted load times were less.

I even just loaded a game without quitting and restarting and found the lag times is less.

So maybe there is something about going into the B key or menu to see our inventory/map/skills/magic is the problem.

I agree, I am sick of all these "this works.." phantom solutions that don't work. Please stop posting these!

Uh, they do work. Maybe not for everyone. The problem we have with the xbox now is the same problems with the PC. The hardware for the 360 is not the same for everyone. It's like we all have different configurations. So the issue for me, for now is fixed, playing off a memory stick it may not work for others since the hardware is different now.

ok, you said "they do work. Maybe not for anyone." Surely that statement contradicts itself.

You should have said "it works for some people".

But its been posted before, so please stop posting it!

WEll yes I should have said it "works for some people" but then again, you shouldn't be saying " agree, I am sick of all these "this works.." phantom solutions that don't work." because they do work. The way you said it, it seems it doesn't work for anyone. Well it does, so it goes both ways.

I know you are upset and angry, but don't get upset at me, for saying it does work? Why should I stop posting it? I only said it in 2 posts. So maybe it will help someone else. It worked for me, it can work for others.

I have the older style xbox. It's black has the 120 gig HD I think with HDMI port on the back. It's not new, but not old either. I didn't clear my cache, just holding the A button on start up. (dont' think it does anything but out of habbit)

Just curious, is your memory stick dedicated to the 360 or split between the 360 and PC? Just trying to throw out some ideas there.

Playing off the HDD bad textures.
Playing off the memory stick bad textures.
How about playing straight off the disk? For me it was better playing straight off the disk better than installed to HDD but playing off memory stick better than playing off straight off disk.

I just checked my sons 360, his is older, white no HDMI 60 gig HDD, and old TV. Textures look ok, but the lettering is so small. Guess since it's a non HDTV that would be like that.

So the problem is either, different 360s have different effects, or Microsofts new technology is not working properly on everyones 360, or some of their disks are deffective when people are having no success at all.

Just wondering - for people who don't have this problem, perhaps they took a slightly different path initially?

To anyone who doesn't have this problem - Did you:
-Launch the game without first updating it to v1.1? (which I believe was out the same day the game was available)
-Run it without logging in to Xbox Live at all, or with a non Live-Enabled local account?
-Have very few game saves from other Bethesda titles on your system, or none at all, or no game saves whatsoever?

Just a few things to consider.

I just played the game from the disk the night I got it, installed the update, everything looked great. Then... it happened after I played other games.

I'm playing on the cheaper slim that came with built in 4gb and matte black finish. I uninstalled the game and all my texture woes that I had through my first character(deleted) have been rectified. No more Bermuta triangles in the water(giant missing squares of surface texture) I'm actually now blown away by all the water effects.

I installed the moment I put it in my Xbox. Played it, had no issues, saw on here other people were having issues, and stared at a wall, uninstalled and played, the very wall I was staring at changed ever so slightly.

Playing from the disc my I have ever so slightly improved textures. I'm using an arcade model from 2007, I think . . . perhaps even earlier. Probably earlier.

I am also having texture issues with the game. The noses look pixelated around the tips. The chins don't look smooth on women. In fact the chins look like they've been pixelated as well. This is happening during character creation when selecting facial features and in game when you are looking at another persons face in first person view when talking to them. Everyone is suffering from pixelated chins and noses. I'm on a 360 slim.

Then there is the problem with lighting when looking at a persons face. Half the time their faces are in shadows even when it's full daylight out.

Like many of you, I have been having ridiculously low textures in Skyrim.

I have played Skyrim installed to my HDD and from the disc, yet I still get horrible textures.

However, I made two interesting discoveries.

Whenever I would load a game save, at first, everything looked more or less okay. But when I went through any menus by pressing B, everything got worse, especially my character's hands.

Also, a friend of mine who I'm talking to ATM has said he's got Skyrim installed on his HDD and is having no low textures whatsoever. I probed deeper into this mystery and discovered something. He has an older XB360 model (original Pro model) and I have a newer XB360 model (Slim Kinect ready model).

It seems to me that this issue depends on which XB360 model you are using.

Not at all my son has the 1st gen xbox and i have the 360s 250gb and both are having texture problems :toughninja:

I think your findings may have been by chance. I have a 120 gb elite (not the newer model). I had the texture issue when playing off the hard drive, and about 50% of the time (afterward) playing of the disk, playing off a USB has worked since last Saturday. I also currently have a friends xbox pro at my house, which I'm getting around to mo... well thats not important. Anyway, I tried playing from the hard drive on that and it still had the glitch. Seriously a flash drive is the way to go.
