Thank you Bethesda for an Excellent game

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:15 pm

Just a quick note to Bethesda.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for making an absolutely amazing game, beautifully crafted and excellent fun to play.

I have the PS3 version, my daughter and myself have been playing it since its release day. we can't put it down!
We have had no major problems with the game at all, no framerate drops or crashes.
I understand that a few people are having problems with game on the PS3, and your producing a patch, I hope you can manage to work some magic to help them out.

I am a software developer myself and also help out on a software support line, so I can really sympathise with you guys at the moment.
Getting threats and abuse from people that are obviously frustrated, but just too stupid or impatient to be polite.
Remember it's so much easier for these angry idiots to scream and shout, than politely ask for help or advice, you are better than them.
They will always blame you or the game rather than the setup they have.

We get it all the time at my place of work. i.e
I told one customer once to gently clean his keyboard as a keys seemed to be sticky.
He then submerged the keyboard in water and scrubbed it.
He was very abusive when he called back as it no longer worked at all.

Had another customer who blamed our software for his computer running slow when he was browsing porm websites.
His computer was win98 with 128mb of memory which he bought from us 11 years ago.

You can't reason with people like this. You have my full sympathy.
I'm going away from the forum now as some of the "more frustrated" people I've tried to reason with and calm down are frankly just wearing me down.

Please know that the sensible ones among us know. the game was obviously tested on the ps3, and that it isn't broken.

...and anyway I want to get back to playing this wonderful game without any problems, just as thousands of others are :)

Thanks again guys.

Don't worry you will get the lag of death eventually. I was like you, all uppity on my moral high horse thinking I wouldn't get it then BAM! 50 hours in the framerate [censored] itself, no way to fix it.

People are just frustrated after the Oblivion GOTY glitch that never got fixed, Fallout 3 GOTY that never got fixed, New Vegas that never got fixed and now this. Some of us spent over $100 on this game and it can bum you out when the developer won't even acknowledge the problem. The longer there is silence the more angry the mob gets, which is what you're witnessing.

Your post belongs in general discussion. This is the PS3 support forum where people come to talk about PS3 related issues. Since you're not having any and keep posting here in some effort to white knight for Bethesda just who is the idiot again? OP pebkac error, and you claim to be in support lol

You are as broken and glitching as the game itself , let it go up in memory save and you will understand what the rest of us are talking about . Bethesda needs to give us back our money , no fixing just our money back or else.

Totally agreeded. People are talking as if every PS3 user is having problems, when it is a small minority, all you have to do is look at the metacrtic user scores for PS3. 434 postive, 88 negative, a HUGE majority, a million PS3 users bought Skyrim, 95% of them have no porblems with the game at all.

Where did you get the numbers from? If you calculate with 522 metacritics, then you would get ~17% "problem-rate". Yes, there are around 1 million PS3-copies out there, but how did you calculate the "95% of them have no porblems with the game at all"? Not everyone with problems will post in forums or send an EMail.

Yeah this guy is an apologist and an idiot. Wait until you get far into the game and you'll see what everyone is complaining about. Also get a life, who in their right mind goes out of their way and spends their free time permorming damage control for a game company he doesn't work for. Get ur head out of Bethesda's ass.

Well not many ppl went far ahead to experiance these FPS drops, and not many ppl are going to complain here about it. If game is broken for at least 100ppl here, then it's problem with the game, not with people, so sooner or later everyone will get this issues on the table.

With all the optimism that comes from this kid, you wonder why on earth does he even visit the software and hardware subforum for PS3?

Glad you and your daughter are enjoying the game! Just out of curiosity, if you are still reading this thread, how large is your current gamesave, and approximately how many hours have you spent on that particular gamesave?

PC software support =/= console software support

The PS3 is a closed system. It's not as though people are loading it up with malware or installing all kinds of memory-intensive programs to run in the background.

I'm glad your game is running smoothly (so far), but the lag issue is a defect in the game, not in the people playing it, and while I'm sure everyone hopes that a patch will solve the issue, Bethesda's track record with the PS3 versions of Fallout 3 and New Vegas doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

As for myself, I will wait for the next patch and see what happens, but if the crippling lag is not fixed at that time, I'll be returning the game for a refund.

The score defense is a red herring as it means nothing with regard to the save issues. Dead Island received mixed to praised reviews within 48 hours of release, yet the game was fundamentally broken. It just took time for the flaw to work it's way to the surface. None of the reviewers mentioned the save corruptions unless the reviews were posted after the issue became common knowledge. Twenty hours into Skyrim I was singing praise, 50 hours later my thoughts have changed a bit. It's a great game, but it's got technical issues.

Honestly, I just plain love this game forever and ever, the only thing that is killing it is that it becomes unplayable after a while.
If Beth fixes this I will be happy forever and ever, not having to worry that the character I am playing will soon become unplayable.

Can't be [censored] serious. Thanks bethestda, you took a game of your main series an [censored] it in the ass. Literally. I feel disappointed. Thought you are a great development team. But you are not. There a minor bugs on every single system you released.
5 years of programming, with a well known engine. And you screwed it.

Very true!

You know there is a difference between a 11 year old PC not being able to run newer software and a PS3 not being able to run software made for that PS3. So comparing people who can't clean a keyboard to people who spend $60 ($130+ for the CE) on a game that doesn't even work a week later s pointless.

Most people who are claiming to have no problems and say people are whining are new to these boards, are you customers or employees trying to shut people up?

What? You think Bethesda PAID me to say the game is fine?

Oh, that was a good laugh. No mate, the truth is that I actually have no problems with my version of Skyrim. Maybe I just got lucky, maybe my disk isn't faulty, maybe even I don't play it long enough each day, i.e. 8 hours plus, to have any probelems. But whatever the reason is, i'm enjoying the game

Yes, I am too - very much. I am finding it very odd that, all things being equal, a few have severe problems while folks like you and I do not have them. And beyond that - no one I know has them. All four of the folks I know playing the game on PS3 have not had any issues - and two of them are hard core gamers - six hours straight types.

Well I'm one of those who you thought was fine because I didn't have a forum account to complain on so I just made one. I wonder how many more people out there don't have forum account's or even know where to look are having trouble with this game? may I also ask how you know that the majority of PS3 users are not having trouble or is that just information you pulled out of a hat?

I didn't say they paid you now did I? You'd probably shill for free. Anyway.... that's great you have no problems, my wife has no problems playing it on her PC, my nephew has no problem playing it on his Xbox360. But if you look up, no not at your ceiling, at these forums, you'll notice a lot of people having nearly the same problems. So go blame it on faulty disk or we play 8 hours a day (Actually I've put in 11 hours since I got the game Friday) just do me a favor, when your game starts to lag, just grin and bare it. Cause I didn't think mine was and I am sure lots of people thought that too... but it'll happen...
