The "Art vs Art" random encounter is driving me nuts

Post » Thu Jan 14, 2016 10:27 pm

The encounter itself is not bad, but why the hell does it happen OVER AND OVER?

First time I saw this, killed one of them. Later I found them fighting each other again,my thoughts were "Maybe I killed the synth one and the Institute made another".Then I killed one of them, again. However, it just keep happening, no matter which one I kill.

Several times after, I was getting tired of this, and decided to kill them both. But that didn't do any good, I still found them fighting each other over and over. Then I tried console command "disable" to rid them from the world, but they just don't want to give up on screwing my journey.

Does someone know how to make them leave me alone permanently, please? After encountered this more than a dozen times already, I just can't take it any more.

I have only encountered this once per character so far.

On one occasion it was just outside Sanctuary when I had just left vault 111 for the first time. Sure was interesting to say the least. But never encountered them again.

I've only ever seen the encounter once.

Really strange that some people see it so many times. Guess I should be glad I'm not being stalked by the the Art doppelganger gang.

I've only seen it once on my 3rd playthrough. Well, heard them, didn't actually figure out where they were.

Last playthrough I saw them about 10 times. This time in 60 hours I might have seen them once.

On one of my characters I swear that every time I turned around I saw them fighting. Never even saw their initial encounter. The first time I saw them I accidentally killed the human Art, which you'd think would put an end to it. Then I saw them fighting again and again and again. Each subsequent time I killed the right Art, but Nick kept disliking it, which was mind boggling to me.

This can only mean they are both Synths.

I've seen them numerous times, finally when I got annoyed, killed both. Didn't encounter them ever since.

I wud assume its a bug ive never had it happen more than once though(per playtrough), but probably you guys are having some sort of a glich that causes that even to respawn instea dof being one time occurance.

First playthrough of over 150 hours I never saw them at all. Second play I've seen them once in about fifty hours. I did nothing just let one kill the other.

This has to be a scripting error/bug. I'm seeing these two all the time and I've been killing the winner for giggles.

Yep, these two are battling out across the waste for me. It all started when I find them shooting at one another in Cambridge and shortly determined that one of them had to be a synth. Having helped killed the synth. I thought that was that. But oh no, the Institute doesn't back down from their mortal enemy, Art, so easily. Now I see them fight everywhere.

I used to help kill the synth one every time they appeared, but now I've grown annoyed and just ignore them. Though now that someone has mentioned it, I now contemplate killing them both to end this never ending war.

The cycle will be broken. It must.

Nick keeps on disliking it because the art you killed is a sinth , and Nick Cannon is a sinth too

I've tested killing both, most companions hate it regardless of if you kill the real or synth one, as there's no way to tell who is who until after the fact, even those that are strongly anti-synth I don't think would like it, anymore than killing any other random innocent person.

No kidding, but Nick is also a cop and I'm preventing a murder.

Not to nit-pick, but with high enough persuasion, you can get one of them (in my case, the one being held at gunpoint) to admit that he is a synth and would I help him kill the human.... which, of course, prompted me to tell the human to kill the synth. I don't mind synths, in general, but this synth clearly had evil intentions.

The one holding the gun is human, the one on the ground is a Synth, you can convince the guy holding the gun to let the Synths go or you can shoot one of them, the guy holding the gun freeked out when he saw the Synth who looked like him and will kill him if you do not intervene.

odd, I always saw them both armed, both shooting at each other and unable/unwilling the talk because they are in a gun fight, might have to encounter it a few more times and see if that happens instead. it could be that they spawned and I didn't get to them before it continued into a gunfight.

edit: granted, "always" was twice that I recall, but same thing both times.

Maby their is a bug that causes both if them to be armed, what system is this on? Because if it is PC it might be a side effect of a mod you installed.

I get it all the time. Never have spoken to either character, though, as they are already fighting every time I've come across them.

With three characters I've only seen them once. Killed one and found Synth parts so I guess I got the right one.

I've seen them once so far, stabbed both of them in the face for being synths.

It's unfortunate that I couldn't trust them... but even more unfortunate that they trusted me.

When you come across Art and Art and they're already fighting, there is actually a way to tell them apart. All you have to do is look at their weapons. From my experience, human Art will always have the double barrelled shotgun. Synth Art will always have the pipe pistol.
