After the quest to get sanguines rose a random argonian walked up to me and told me that he retrieved sanguines hat from a bandit camp and wanted his payment of 10,000 gold. I gladly payed the fine man. So now Im the proud owner of........WTF its a freaking rag on top of my head.

Huh? It's not Sanguine's hat, is it? Deep-In-His-Cups just made a bet with you and Sanguine to retrieve some bandit leader's hat. With persuasion you can lower the price to 750 by the way. :biggrin:

I also believe he gives a different answer depending on how much money you'll eventually give him, 750 leading him to say he'll buy something for his headache, and 10,000 resulting in him buying some land in Black Marsh. Not sure anymore 'though. And he'll still randomly spawn too, no matter what option you take (yes, that includes killing him lol).

Uhm no? Check the UESP and wiki if you really must, but it's definitely a bandit leader's hat. You and Sanguine made the bet with that Argonian during your black-out, so it definitely can't be Sanguine's own hat. No need to make a bet for that.

The only encounter I've had with him in 4 playthroughs I killed him. I just got that quest done and he walks up to me pitching his spiel, so I thought he was trying to bamboozle me. I killed him either after I got the hat or before I got the hat and looted it from him. Don't mess with the Dragonborn because I have an upgraded fire shout which does 25% more damage and a likely chance of killing!

Lucky you, I've already met him four times on one character, the third time even very quickly after the second. Almost killed him then, which would be very OOC for my character. This guy is ripping me off! :dry:

Apparently you and Sam dared him 10,000 septims to sneak into a bandit camp and steal the leader's hat.

So uhm ... where does it say he stole Sanguine's hat, knowing that Sam = Sanguine? :blink:

I edited the UESP page so its not specific on the hats owner because neither is the game or the wiki
