Am I the only one annoyed with all the COD hate?

Arcade FPS vs other kind of FPS

Examples and diferences please. To me, self-admitted laymen of the genre they are all the same.

Arcade FPS = Fast paced shooting, more reflexes than actual thinking. COD

"Tactical" FPS = You take it slow and work with your team, its slower paced and requires you to actually think a little. Battle Field series. Or like Rainbow Six.

Immaturity of some people. Not all, though.

I remember one instance where some kid kept being pompous and immature to me through a conversation. I forget majority of it, but remember he said something along the lines of "Yo son, you don't know good games and I play COD because I'm hardcoe" some crud like that. My response? "I've been playing games before you were even born" well that made him shut up. :P

The reason of why I hate COD if because they are pretty much the same after MW2, pleasing the devoted fans rather then thinking something new for themselves, and rushing their products doesnt help

But there's only been one CoD game since MW2...

Oh man, my thoughts go back to the endless summer days I spent cooped up indoors blasting through MoH Frontline and MoH Rising Sun on the gamecube, I once completed Frontline in one sitting and nearly finished MoH Rising Sun the same day. I could replay the campaign over and over again and never grow tired of it. Good times :)

I dearly miss Frontline. Played it back when I had a Gamecube and it's still my fondest WW2 shooter memory. Me alone against hundreds of Nazi troops throughout large levels. Difficult as hell, too. Why wasn't there a PC release? I suppose I could get the PS2 version.

People hate what's popular. Humans are weird.

Right? I've always thought humans hate to feel different, but then they go against the grain and hate something immensely popular, thus being different. I don't know. To be honest, I think it's just elitism

I had a nerdgasm when I used the cheat codes to have phaser projectiles in Front Lines.

Also games these days need to bring big head mode back!

I was refering to the recent MOH wich I totally belief is better than COD, but noone plays it online. it went from 70,000 to 1,500 after COD came out.

This is just me, but I pretty much hate anything that Activision puts their name on. Honestly, they are worse than EA. They get their money out of a franchise than toss it out.(Guitar Hero)

COD has been pretty much the same since COD4.

I agree with all of this, except MW2 is still one of my favorite games. I don't play the Treyarch ones.

Eh, I really didn't enjoy the new MoH. It wasn't that fun, and there weren't enough guns in the multiplayer, and it got kind've boring

Yes! I used to almost piss my pants laughing at the big heads and when the people dressed as food like a hotdog with a face. I'm sorry, but to an 8 year old me seeing a giant hotdog with a smiley face on it shooting at me was literally the funniest thing on earth  What happend to games having cheat codes? Some still do but I feel like they took them out of most because people can use them to cheat to get achievments, but why cant they just disable achievments while the codes are on? I blame online multiplayer. :swear:

STALKER pwns CoD. judging by watching my friends play on their consoles that gave gives you massive aim assist cause they were picking off people on the other side of the maps on rooftops. no thanks.

its not the only franchise to go downhill lately in the name of "accessibility". i was looking forward to Crysis 2 until i saw a youtube video of a guy going the the last level on veteran mod and not firing a single shot. he just ran through it using armor. saved me $60. :)

Honestly, OP, if you like the series then continue enjoying it and screw what everyone else thinks. If I had a dollar for every time I read a post bashing Fallout 3 (my 2nd favorite game) on this forum in the 2 1/2 years I've been here I'd be thousands of dollars richer. Eventually I just wound up accepting the fact that it's virtually impossible to read a discussion on Fallout 3 here without someone hating on it, and, as a result, I've stopped reading said discussions. All that matters is that I like the game, Bethesda will eventually release another Fallout game, and I will like that too. Knowing what the rest of the fanbase thinks serves no purpose to me other than to aggravate me and spoil my enjoyment of the series. This is the attitude you should take. Dwelling on all the COD hate is a waste of your time. Every other person on earth could hate COD but all that matters in your life is that you enjoy it.

I don't hate Call of Duty. I think the campaigns are fantastic though short, and multiplayer is fun if you have a good group.

Granted, there is still stuff to hate on.

-Activision
-Overpowered killstreaks
-The damn 12 year olds online
-The wannabe gun experts it spawns. If I hear one more person call an M-79 a thumper, I'll...nevermind

Indeed.

Some games like ratchet and clank I believe still have it though. I do miss those crazy cheat codes.

I only hate the fact that most of the recent COD games all seem identical.

A new Modern Warfare? Let me guess, you play as a one-man-army fighting "terrorists", which everyone knows only come from the Middle-East. And of course, the americans/brits win. I swear I've seen that story somewhere before...

I absolutely love the WWII ones, can't stand the new Modern Warfare ones (as well as that pacific one, because I can't forgive the absence of Aussies in it :stare:)

If I had a DIME for every person bashing JRPGs on these forums, I'd be far FAR richer then you with your dollar for every-time someone bashes FO3. ^^ I will agree with you though, if you like something, who cares what other people think about the series? I love JRPGs, nothing is ever going to sway me from that. I love corny movies, like The Cable Guy, which every person I've ever met swears up and down it's the worst movie ever made and Jim Carrey must have been on drugs to agree to do it. Personally, I think it's freaking hilarious and one of his best movies by far ^^. I can't stand CoD games, but then again, I can't stand 95% of shooters, it's just not my style of game. On the other hand, my best friend loves CoD, though he can't stand playing it with people besides those in our group of friends.

TL:DR Play what you enjoy, enjoy what you play.
