It seems to be random. I haven't seen a single backward-flying dragon since the patch and I've put nearly 20 hours into the game and brought down over a dozen dragons since then. I had one that I lost track of for a few seconds after blasting it with a full frost shout, but that was probably more due to it being the middle of the night and heavy snowfall and fog so I just couldn't see him til he landed again.

It happened to me on the first dragon encounter, after starting a new character. (the one west of Whiterun, on Dagon Rising quest)

I have fought a few more dragons since then, it hasn't happened again yet....

I also tested a lightning spell on a storm atronach using that same character, and my atronach was definitely taking massive damage from an apprentice level spell....

I've killed a few dragons since the patch and have yet to see one fly backwards.

No backward-flying dragons here at Level 32, roughly 60 hours of play time. I'm still getting stuttering and lag after an hour or two. Hopefully the SSD I've bought (arriving Friday) will help to resolve this.

I've seen no backwards flying dragons since the patch but I've seen plenty of Frost Dragons that suddenly own my ass because none of my frost resistance gear works anymore.

Same here, I havent seen one. I usually don't pay attention to them though unless they are actually in the attack area. The ones just flying around are a pain to try and attack anyway. If the ground is poundin, I start lookin. lol

I saw my first one last night, and I had just beaten an Elder Dragon not an hour before ... so it certainly is not all dragons.

They also seem to behave differently from the start. This one was just floating, not circling or anything. Just hanging there and when I approached, it darted away backwards. Good thing is that they are pretty easy to just walk away from (which is good since apparently they can't be killed).

i have this dragon that i encounter keeps avoiding me by flying backwards and away from me. he usually looks like hes twitching and he strangely hangs around darkwater crossing , northwest of riften, south of winterhold. right when i got him to his last bit of life he started having convulsion and flew away. another buzz kill to the lag problem which I'm still having also.

You haven't seen the worst...

I'm stuck with invisible dragons. That's right. They're invisible.

Suddenly I get roasted from out of nowhere. Then I know it's a invisible dragon... after I'm dead.

No invisible or backwards dragons here, but they have started crashing into scenery, which I never saw before. One in Riverwood was bouncing between trees like a pinball!

Just a guess, but I think it's triggered by quest related dragons.
That's how I first experienced it, and after that it seemed to affect regular dragons too.

when I read this and was like huh I hope that dosnt happen to me since I didnt even know this was happening to people 10 minutes after reading it I see a dragon really far away in the game and its just flapping its wings and staying in one spot so I decided to go get a closer look after I got close enough it was stuck in one spot flapping its wings then it took off really quick like it was in fast foward and then stopped in place again. It repeated this a few times then flew backwards while twitching and flipping over. After that I shot dragonrend at it but it took off really fast again then started to stutter looking like it was experiencing the frame rate drops that affected so many people but without bringing me along for the ride lol. It was funny crossing my fingers that it dosnt keep happening though and gets fixed.

Completely normal skyrim dragon behavior. They will also fly headfirst into the ground and do a headstand before sliding away and flying off into the distance.
You may also find them half inside building flapping wildly to escape their man built tomb.
Don't forget that they also use wall hacks and are able to not only see you through walls but shoot you with their breath through them.

My dragons have been glitchy since day one. Not one flying completely backwards yet though.

It happened twice to me so far out of about 6-7 dragon fights, so no, not every time, honestly its pretty funny how they seem to run away from you if you get close at sonic speeds. I drained the health of one of the backwards flying dragons once but he just kepth floating there, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the bugged backwards flying dragons are pretty much unkillable.
