This is the state of media. Do you see a problem?

Since when did democracy and capatilism become synonymous? It's like confusing the word freedom and capatilism. There are other alternatives :twirl:

Democracy and capitalism aren't synonymous (an example of this would be China), however they do tend to go hand in hand, as most modern democratic countries are capitalist to a degree. Furthermore there are alternative government types, such as socialism, theocracy, technocracy, a "third way" i.e. fascist government or maybe a monarchy but none of those are democratic. And don't mistake me for some mad capitalist, I'm not. I'm simply saying that it's currently one of the better ways of running a country. Of course it's very bad for those who get the short end of the stick.

"It's called consolidation. Strengthen governments and corporations, weaken individuals. With taxes, this can be done imperceptibly over time."

I think I got that mostly right..Man, I love that game too much.

I propose a revolution
The internet will take over media! All news, newspapers, and movies will consist of nothing but troll faces, ponies, nyan cat, and [censored] jokes.

And it'll actually be an improvement.

I see people are confusing Corporatism as an integral part of Capitalism. Capitalism is just a means of making a profit from goods and services, embodied on the infograph by all the dots, whereas Corporatism is about consolidation of power and influence, embodied on the infograph by the giant dots.

Yep, cause having everything controlled by a single political party is so much better innit?
I didn't say that, and I'm baffled as to how you could've drawn that conclusion...

I'm not American. These graphs and shizzle always relate to America.

The same trend occurs in the rest of the world. In Sweden all commercial radio stations are split between 3 big media companies.

It's interesting that everyone's saying, Oh, there's no reason to worry. We've got the internet!

And yet, net neutrality is constantly and ever-increasingly under attack.

It's called leverage..

I only check mainstream media to see what they're *not* saying, and draw conclusions from that.

That chart doesn't reflect my options for media intake at all
This, I get all my media off of YouTube, I don't watch any cable, I don't watch movies very often, and I never listen to the radio.

Yeah I'm sure about it. Even here, and it's only a tiny country.

Well, to be fair, they do provide http://news.sky.com/sky-news/content/StaticFile/jpg/2009/Aug/Week1/15356707.jpg exciting news.

I've never even read "The Sun". I read norwegian newspaper because I'm not a native english speaker.

I really don't care about the state of the media, and I don't care who owns what or whatever as long as I get to watch TV, listen to the radio, reading the newspaper et cetera...

Most TV, newspapers, and radio stations svck, that's why there's the internet.

I back this wholeheartedly. Most media outlets are force-fed and regurgitate distorted information gruel. No thank you.

So as rocky as the internet can be, it really is the best place to obtain the knowledge savvy you yearn for. This is how I feel anyway, others may disagree.
