Update 1.2 and your hopes and expectations

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 10:33 pm

I have little faith in Bethesda and to be honest, this patch isn't going to help or be anything other than a sugar pill. Skyrim need ALOT of work and probably needed many more months of testing to ensure quality. Level scaling is beyond [censored]. Whoever thought this system works should have been shot in the throat on day 1. Other bugs and glitches are due to the laziness developers are having overall throughout this generation of video games. Lastly this "creation engine" is gamebryo...you can see this from the first 15 minutes of the game when people are sliding into place, clipping into walls and twitching when dead.

Don't insult our intelligence, all the idiots that have come into gaming recently since gaming went mainstream may be fooled and praise you but i've experienced this in oblivion, fallout 3 and new vegas, please stop. I've stopped playing Skyrim after about a hour and haven't picked it up since and i highly doubt 1.2 will make me return.

I've quit playing until I see some destruction scaling and better mana regen. I shouldn't be forced to use +25 mana reduction x 4 to make everything a 0 cast for destruction to be barely viable 50+.

Nice rage.

All the 'idiots' that praise Bethesda are not overlooking the problem's, they simply understand why most of them happen in a game on this scale. Creation Engine is not Gamebryo, the owner's of Gamebryo are actually now bankrupt and out of business if i remember correctly but yes it is obvious the Creation Engine is based on (and obviously not as broken as) the Gamebryo Engine.

I've experienced very few bugs in this game, fallout 3, and fallout new vegas. I experienced a ton in Oblivion, but that was the only Bethesda game where I've found tons of bugs. This game seems awesome to me, the only thing I really want to see fixed it's the SDTV aspect ratio/text. And dragons need to be made more powerful. Other than that, I have very few complaints.

I agree on the Dragon's, they are fun to fight and look amazing in combat yet feel weak and more predictive :/ other than that the texture bug annoy's me and im avoiding certain questline's for now which really is not a problem since my game has kindly dropped an insane amount of misc quest's on me.

I hope they fix a few things at the very least.

.... this patch isn't going to help or be anything other than a sugar pill.

I think you may be right in that it will be a sugar pill. The game seems to be too broken for one patch. In my opinion it shouldn't have been released yet.

... Other bugs and glitches are due to the laziness developers are having overall throughout this generation of video games.

It seems to me that they wanted to (had to) compete with all the other big titles that have been coming out recently, which is really disappointing. It forces most of us to choose one or the other. It seems I chose poorly this time.

Why force the same release schedule as your competitors?? If you leave a gap people will still buy your game, infact more of them might just do so... as they will be finished with that 'other' title.

Seriously all you (Bethesda) have seem to have done with this title is annoy alot of loyal consumers. Sure it has the potential to be a great title, we can see that, it should be that. But no, you've got shareholders to worry about, don't worry about 'us' the consumer. The people who really keep you in business. As long as the shareholders are happy, right?

I could have dealt with waiting another 3 months. We've been waiting how long already?? You've been a very naughty little company.

The only thing I can say is:

They better have fixed the N64 bug! (the bug that makes texture scaling on the Xbox 360 not work properly)

Been playing for 70+ hours now and not encountered a single bug. It froze twice so far, and that was during the loading screen both times.

I think alot of the complaints on here are pretty harsh and ignorant. Bugs are an inevitable and yet, in my opinion, forgiveable aspect of games, especially with large sandbox games like GTA and the Elder Scrolls series. Having been a games tester in the past I know that it is impossible to test EVERY single aspect of a game, every weapon, every enemy encounter, every possible route to an objective, every area of the game world, every action and reaction to a certain scenario. Frankly I am glad we have the internet these days so that these bugs can be patched easily and give the player a much more convenient gaming experience. Back in the 80s and 90s bugs in games were permanent and we lived with it!

I have every faith that Bethesda will fix most of the more popular bugs that have been reported. Skyrim has already been touted for GOTY (with good reason) and I doubt they will let that slip due to a few inconvenient glitches. This game has far exceeded my expectations and is truly worthy of 10/10 score that its got from most reviews. I believe that the bar has been set!

I doubt they will fix the SDTV problems, so besides that, I hope they fix the texture bug, shadow bug, most of the quest bugs, item bugs, follower bugs, marriage bugs, house bugs, dragon bugs.

Basically a lot of the bugs. Obviously they can't fix all the bugs in one patch, but I hope they get rid of most of them. This game needs a friggin exterminator befor I call it game of the year.

Obviously they wont fix the SDTV issues. Technology has moved on, SDTVs are obsolete now so there's no reason why they, or any company should develop games that are compatible with obsolete technology.

Demanding that a game like with should work on SDTVs is pretty much like demanding it should work on 10 year old pentium PCs...

Texture bug and menu lag, but I would be happy with some other gameplay balance tweaks and quest fixes.

I'm not even going to get into why statements like these are utterly ridiculous. Read the SDTV threads.

I agree 100%. The OP calling the developers ignorant, stupid and lazy needs to Please continue, my good sir.. Everyone that complains, go out and make your own damn game that is this enthralling. Seriously, go do it. And before you say that isn't the point, it is the point! We all want to have a bug free gaming experience but guess what? Since my early PC gaming days with Doom there hasn't been a game that is bug free. It happens. And when you make a game a large and free as Skyrim there will be bugs. Unless of course the OP wants TES 6 to be a FPS with only one path you can take.

To the OP and other little whiners, if you think you can do better go do it. Go spend the millions it takes to produce a game of this quality and then setup a forum where anonymous neckbeards can come in to bash and belittle the extremely hard work you and your team put into it. Please do that.

/rant

If I were to develop a game I would never setup a forum. All it does is open the door for people to say things that they would never say in person. I would like to watch the OP go up to one of the TES developers and tell him how lazy and stupid he is. That would make for a good youtube video.

edit: didn't proof read
