I read a vault wiki saying there was a double experiment with vault 68 with 1 woman and 999 men and an opposite vault 69 with 1 man and 999 women? is it an official vault or just some fanfiction thing someone made up?

it's in the FOB, and yes, it is cannon. it had a brief mention in the Fallout Penny Arcade comics, and there's a piece of Concept art for it somewhere as well. i think it was from the Vanburen Demo.

It was mentioned in the Fallout Bible, then appeared in a piece of Van Buren concept art, and then in the official Fallout 3 comic.

I won't go into detail on the opposite vault

Due to the obvious nature of the male gender, their jealousy drove them to control the only female left. One night, while she was asleep, the Overseer came to kill her, to stop all the conflict. However, five suitors also snuck in, and instigated a riot. It killed off the only female, the Overseer, and an approximate 98% of the Vault in general.

And for the record, this is not canon. This is my take on Vault 68.

this has been discussed before people found that it would actually be pure hell.

The truth is, that one man in Vault 69 is a Eunoch.

Awww what are you complaining about? Sultans can handle 1000+ harem, so our Joe Random Vault Dweller shouldn't fare much worse.

Then again... who's the pour soul gonna drink beer with?
Who's gonna help him fix stuff in the vault?
And... Probably the Over is a woman, so... our guy might end up monogamous amidst 998 single women. Oh the horror! *shudder*

As for the *special* time... Well... Combat Armor and digging a 10m trench should help... God help the pour soul if half the vault got it at once though

It wouldn't be a hell, considering this:

1. The women would go insane only after week or two after entering the vault. The guy has plenty of time to prepare himself.
2. I doubt that all the 999 women would wake up at 8 o'clock, rush to the man and gang-[censored] him. There would be turns, and the man would have to do it in about 4-5 times a day.
3. Considering that a normal person can live normally some 4-7 days without six, the turn system would be good.
And there is always chance for lisbian relationships, too.

Though it has to be admitted that after 12 years of this the thing would feel kinda boring.
If the people are ~20 years old when entering, and die at 80, it would be 60 years of this? I doubt.

Also, if there is only one man there, the children couldn't reproduce. Because everyone has the same father, the vault would die out in two generations.
