Well if Zenimax not wanting BGS to make anymore TES games for fear of competition for TES:O, then why on earth would they allow them to remaster Skyrim, which is going to sell millions of copies all over again?

Obviously...because Skyrim is a thing from the past and the necessary resources for this remaster are extremely low compared to the benefits they will get. And this remake is more about console players...and that market is too big... so there will be always a win/win situation...

You cant compare the weight of Skyrim remaster with TESVI.

I'm sure millions people will still be interested in purchasing The Elder Scrolls VI in 2020 or 2023.

ZeniMax Online Studios and Bethesda Game Studios time and time again said that The Elder Scrolls Online is not competing with The Elder Scrolls singleplayer video games.

Like The CheshireKhajit said why would they release for sale The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition if The Elder Scrolls Online was competing with The Elder Scrolls singleplayer video games?

They remastered The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to release for sale for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One gamers and as a free update for PC gamers to fill in the gap until then.

I completely disagree,sadly.

There wont be the same interest...you know.. things change and if you lose momentum...and there are other companies making big games too... and the open world scene is not just Bethesda anymore.

I answered regarding Skyrim remaster...and I add that nothing will fill a gap as big as between now and 2020 or more regarding TES...and less if we talk about a remaster made for consoles cause in PC this remaster will be worst than playing the game with a random enb.

I'd argue that fallout 4 lost lots of momentum just like you say here with tes for all the years of silence whether fallout 4 was even going to happen. Then they suddenly reveal it and the hype increases and they sell more than any game so far that they've made.

I think if Bethesda waited another 20 years for tes, then suddenly announce it, they will still sell more than any other game to date. Sure the people's interest dies after time, but once it's revealed, the hype explodes.

Just look at Zelda. I know lots of people who basically wrote the franchise off years ago, now look at the hype from the latest reveal.

What about The Last Guardian?

SONY's showed it off at like 2008's E3 then every year after that at every E3 people slowly started losing interest and all of a sudden SONY shows it off again at their E3 2015 conference and the interest got huge. Then SONY showed it of at their E3 2016 conference with a release for sale date and the interest is even bigger now than it was at their E3 2015 conference.

I wish that last part were true cause I think competition is healthy and I would like to see another franchise take on Bethesda type games, but sadly, no one does open world like Bethesda. Witcher holds no interest for me due to the constrained back story and single character you can play, plus not enough subtle detail like meaningless clutter you can interact with. Tried Dark souls too but had no interest in that one either. Haven't seen another studio make a game that approaches what Bethesda does. Reality Pump came the closest with Two Worlds, but the lack of multiple races/characters and the voiced protagonist ruined that one for me.

Will Cyberpunk 2077 get you interested in purchasing it?

Cyberpunk 2077 will be a open world RPG video game letting you go into almost every house and shop like in Bethesda Game Studios developed video games.

Cyberpunl 2077 will also let you create fully customizable female and male Player Characters (PC's) like in Bethesda Game Studios developed video games.

And CD Projekt RED is also looking into letting the Player Characters (PC') have the ability to pick up almost every single item in front of her face or his face like in Bethesda Game Studios developed video games. There was a topic about it that some person made like in January 2014 or so.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a good start for competition against Bethesda Game Studios developed video games.

Sorry but I cant grasp if The Last Guardian holds the same interest than in 2008 cause I cant rely on some blog posts or some wooaaaa weeeeew wooooow from the typical e3 videos.

I mean...sales will tell.

yeah makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if tes 6 comes out in the 2020s. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to expand into different settings, 50s post apocalyptic and fantasy probably get a little tiring after a decade or two.

Well, there go my guesses of one being on mobile. But two full-sized games from Bethesda that aren't Fallout and Elder Scrolls, color me interested.

And remember, the Montreal studio started with 40-something people. It's expanding, it's not going to stay 40 strong.

While I was not happy to hear Bethesda taking time and resources away from TES to make two other triple A IPs nobody cares about, I realize that those two games could be testing grounds for new engines and gameplay mechanics before Bethesda decides what to do with TES VI, so it might be a good thing for TES.

Lol, "Two other triple A IPs nobody cares about". TES was an IP nobody cared about until it was developed also. Let's not judge something until we know something about it, hmmm?

This is what gives me hope. I honestly would be stoked for a great new IP from them as well, don't get me wrong on that front, but if nothing else, if they take lessons from other games to make TES VI better, that's all I could ask for ha ha.

Maybe. I don't know much about it but what little I have read sounds intriguing. I am glad they are doing something with a non-linear story line where you don't have to play a predetermined character.

No surprise here, feels good to finally have it said by them though.

I also saw that Todd Howard acknowledged the problems with Fallout 4 and that they listened to the feedback. Hopefully the next TES will be better than Fallout 4 was!

Now we just wait.

Honestly, I am content that they said as much as they did about Elder Scrolls VI. I wasn't really expecting news about it at all during E3. Obviously I would rather see the game sooner rather than later, but I liked Todd Howard's answer. Good enough for me, although I had a faint hope we would hear what the province would be (definitely understand why we didn't and I wasn't expecting to anyways). Hopefully it just isn't too long until we hear more about it.
