i was following the daggerfall install guide in the pinned topics, but when it goes to install, all i get is it telling me that i do not have enough disk space. my dosbox commands:

MOUNT C GAMES -freesize 500
MOUNT D E:\ -t cdrom
D:
INSTALL

i was reading some other topics and tried this set:

MOUNT C GAMES -freesize 500
MOUNT D E:\ -t cdrom
D:
INSTALL /u

i got past the disk space check, but then it couldnt make the folder.

what is going wrong?

Can't really see anything wrong with what you're doing on your first one. Never tried the install /u thing though.
When I install Daggerfall I use the "http://www.fileplanet.com/114400/110000/fileinfo/Windows-XP-Daggerfall-Install" (works with both XP and Vista), then copy all the files from the arena2 folder on the disc to the arena2 folder under dagger on the hard drive, and manually edit the z.cfg file to point to the installed game's arena2 folder, then patch, config dosbox etc. and start playing.

I usually just go ahead and install in the default C:\Dagger. Installing anywhere else is kind of a pain, so I'd recommend doing that if you don't want a massive headache.

I think I've read that that can sometimes be resolved by setting the -freesize at a higher value, around 1000 or so.

yes, 500 seems to be just barely too small. 800 works well enough. The /u command just makes the installer skip the disk space check altogether.

It can't make the folder? Are you running on Vista and not giving the program admin rights?
