I didnt want to make a poll out of this because there would be too many options. How many more titles do you think beth are gonna produce before they finally run out of ideas and release the final TES. Or do you think they can keep making up new ideas for generations. Personally i think theyll make a few on each province in different eras and then a final one on the whole of tamrielor maybe even move onto akavir or something. What do you think?

I would hope that it would go on for a long time, as they could cycle through the different nations (Is that what they're called ... No, it's provinces isn't it ... anyway), and use them all, then they could go back to others at later eras, with the same places as in the first time round but bigger as the cities grew, while some other towns are in ruins etc. (Maybe you could find the grave of your first character ... Hey, it's an idea.) But this is me kind off wishing. There aren't many great RPG's around that I like, and those tend to be one time things ... As someone said before "TES is eternal".

Though i would like Elder Scrolls to go on for ever, I'm a down to earth kinda guy.

TES: MMMCMLXXXIV (3,984) would do it for me. :)

Until the stars no longer shine.

No seriously though, It will probably depend upon the success of Elder Scrolls V. If it does great than many more to come, if it does not so well, they may depend upon the fallout franchise, and focus less strongly upon Elder Scrolls (which would make me cry by the way).

I'm sure Elder Scrolls V will be a massive success, especially since they haven't even unveiled a teaser or even confirmation of it yet.

I can't wait!

My guess is that TES VII will be the last one. In TES V and VI, the series will probably change so much that much of the hardcoe fanbase will lose interest. They will be stuck with casual gamers who will only care about graphics and gameplay. This position can be quite difficult for any company, because you may pump a lot of money into graphics, but if you don't get enough press coverage (or if another game gets too much coverage), then your game won't sell as well. hardcoe fans give free publicity to a game, which can help sales quite a bit. Based on the current trend, TES games will only get more simple as time goes on. We will probably see: fewer quests in exchange for longer, more elaborate quests, fewer dungeons (I'm guessing ~20-25 for TES VII) in exchange for longer, dungeons with hand-placed loot/enemies, fewer skills, etc. In interviews, we will probably hear things such as "Yeah, those older TES games were too complicated. They had so many skills to choose from and so many copy-and-paste dungeons and quests that they simply did not hold the interest of the mainstream. This streamlined design makes TES VII a much better game!"*

Of course, this may be an example of the slippery slope fallacy, but I can see it happening.

*Anyone else remember how Todd's defense for all of our complaints seemed to be "But it's a much better game, now!" when TES IV first came out? :P

Well, if they keep pink-slipping their writers every few games and keep hiring new ones the idea hat should keep throwing out golden rabbits. However, those new writers should actually keep up to date on the previous lore.

I think the lore has plenty of room to continue. Keep in mind Tamriel isn't the only land mass out there. And it has a rich enough history they could go forward or backwards in time. Honestly they have enough room to have over 20 TES. Now rather or not they would do that is one thing. But they have the lore space for it. Its not like WoW which has pretty much limited itself lore wise to a certain number of expansions due to killing off huge baddies. Besides Methrunes Dagon there hasn't been any huge changes in lore that would lead to an eventual closure of the game universe. I haven't played Oblivion's expansion yet and am kind of a newbie to the TES lore but AFAIK nearly all the gods are still intact and there hasn't been anything setting changing besides Dagon's defeat.

Agreed, we would all love to see our grandchildren getting Tes XXV for their virtual reality consoles, but it isn't as realistic as one might think. The lore can go on for quite some time, yes, but if Beth undergoes problems then we can kiss Tamriel goodbye. Aka if they get bought out or bankrupt, or if they decide it isn't financially worth it to make another Tes. Other than problems with the manufacturers, I can see the video game technology offering problems. Since I don't know exactly what those crazy game designers can do, I can only speculate and hope Beth keeps up with all the tech.
