There are no current plans for an "elder scrolls 5".

There were no quotation marks around the current plans bit, which means those may not have been his exact words, just interpretation by the writer.

Ha! I was right.

Never had a doubt.

The more pressing question for me is how the long to expect it?
Since the development of Fallout 3 we cant easily predict the date for the next TES5.
Oh Well   at least its a confirmed relief that they are working on it. :foodndrink:

Merely noting that it was gracious of Gstaff and Pete to post here, esp. on this topic, and to offer thanks for the clarity along with general pleasure at the certainty of series continuity.

Personally, I'm a very patient guy. I can wait.

Besides, with all the interruptions I'm getting at home, I haven't finished Oblivion yet (and yes, people are screaming for another narration - by Azura, I'll never catch up if TES V is released too soon). :brokencomputer:

@Gstaff

I know you are bound to contracts that say you arnt allowed to reveal certain information about future products you are working on.. but what ARE you allowed to say? Were kinda running a bit dry here and grasping for any information we can get our greedy little hands on. Which is why this whole "No TES V" matter was blown out of proportion. But what are you allowed to say? If anything?. Cause the bottles running a bit empty.

What can they say? Probably only what they've already said:

-They intend to do another Elder Scrolls game.
-They are currently working on a game.
-Don't expect TESV in the immediate future.

That's probably it.

I echo other fans that have said how disappointed they are that we are having to wait so long for TES5. Oblivion is arguably the best game I've ever played and I've been craving more every since I finished The Shivering Isles. I'd really like to see another TES before any other games on Bethesda's schedule. Maybe it's just me.

An here's another thing......
Why would Bethesda be looking to hire artists that have a knowledge of the Elder Scroll series...

Eh...?

I'd guess it ain't for Orc Bowling on the Wii...

Yeah, seriously. Your artwork is simply inspirational. It's so unique and stylized - have you seen Oblivion's concept art? It looks like dull, uninspired drawings from some sort of DnD manual. They don't even look like drawings! :P

I'm sure they'd love to have you back.

I've never seen his art.

I was an obsessed Daggerfall player, and for about 2 or 3 years I followed the Morrowind development saga, with the concept art and the discussion of how the culture would work, etc. etc However, the "Real Soon Now" reports got very very old and I finally came to the conclusion there wouldn't ever be a Morrowind.

When MW finally came out I missed it entirely. I didn't even realize it was out until I bought a new computer--5 years ago--and asked if would run such and such an upcoming game. I was told that it ran Morrowind very well and that was the benchmark for the company's gaming computers. I was really surprised and got a copy of the GoTY shortly after I got the computer, so I actually didn't hear about it until after Tribunal and Bloodmoon.

I think that's why they haven't been announcing games until they have a firm release date. They know they'll lose sales as people give up on it. It's a pretty smart policy.

And, at the moment, that same 5-year-old computer barely runs Oblivion, definitely won't run FO3, and is really really unlikely to run TESV, so I'm not likely to be able to play it unless the universe comes through with a really good job between now and whenever it comes out. :brokencomputer:

Hey, Bethesda! Got any use for a fantasy writer with a couple of novel credits? I can design quests, long as I don't have to program them! :hehe:

I am sure they were waiting to pickup a new engine, now they have IdTech5. So expect TESV to be using Id5.

Not quite. Bethesda hasn't just started working on ESV when Zenimax aquired id. Bethesda is also very familiar with Gamebryo, they aren't just going to drop it. It's likely they'll get advice and some bits from id's code into ESV, but they aren't going to switch engines entirely. Ashley Cheng also stated that they are comfortable with Gamebryo right now, and are not planning to switch.
