I haven't read the book, but the uesp wiki says the explosion of red mountain destroyed the entire "island" meaning Vvardenfell. Nothing about destruction happening on the mainland. Maybe now vvardenfell will be gone and it will just be one big sea in the middle of Morrowind.

No, Vvardenfall is still there, it's just covered by a bunch of lava and ash. The Ministry of Truth decimated Vivec City, and possibly took out a good chunk of Vvardenfall and southern Morrowind. The impact triggered Red Mountain to erupt, which completely covered Vvardenfall in lava and ash. In the book, it's described as looking like another realm of Oblivion, it looks like an unearthly wasteland. Nothing survived, but the island is still there.

Part of me weeps when I play Morrowind. But another part of me finds it hilarious, given how much people loved Morrowind.

The devs did it to punish MW fans who complained about Oblivion. <_< When Oblivion fans complain about TES V (which will be a MMO using the WoW engine), Cyrodiil will suffer the same fate.

Well Umbriel needs the White-Gold Tower in the Imperial City to land, so in the second book the Imperial City might just go bye-bye.

Umbriel went straight from Lilmoth to Vivec City. Aside from Lilmoth, Umbriel didn't go over any major cities. Saying most of the Argonians are dead is an extreme exaggeration.

Edit: Typo

I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't got the book yet who comes into this section. It's not exactly a subtle title.

Well I WAS trying to desperately avoid any spoilers from the new novel until I picked it up next week. But looks like this thread title has blown that hope out of the water. :meh:

My thoughts exactly. I was going to post something similiar to this in the lore forum, but the regulars get upset if people just start bashing OB.

Hence why part of me thinks it's so funny. Still, now playing Morrowind feels like playing on Taris on Star Wars KOTOR.

To elaborate, it was in one of Vivec's sermons, and he had pretty clear instructions on how to make sure it does NOT crash into Vivec. Sheogorath finally got his last laugh with the dunmer people.

and dont forget that it was indeed hallowed, so it didnt contain its original mass and density. it would more likely have cracked up into pieces upon impact.

It's possible that, being frozen in time and all, it retained it's original mass and density despite being hollowed out. Of course that's a slap in the face to physics, but this is a fantasy world we're talking about.

From what little I've read about the crashing of the Ministry moon into Vivec, it just sounds geologically implausible that it would destroy any bit of Vvardenfell, although I could see it taking out a couple of cantons of Vivec. It would need to have a pretty high velocity to do any real damage. The darn thing is like swiss-cheese, with the ordinators having burrowed all through it.

But a nice big phreatic explosion of Red Mountain could do the job. Like Krakatoa.

Maybe there was an explosion of the magical energy holding the Ministry up?

I thought Bethesda was nuking Bethesda just to spite the older portion of its fanbase, but if Cyrodiil and Daggerfall get invaded...sigh...

At first I was in denial and angry about Vvardenfell getting the shaft from Lie Rock and Red Mountain exploding. Now I just don't care. It's in a book, it's not like we'll even see this in-game. By the time we get back to the Morrowind Province, we'll have been everywhere else, Akavir, and the Moons - by then, the land will have recovered.

So, yeah, I guess it's still denial. :P
