Hammerfell = Dorne

Well...maybe slightly bowed and bent...but never truly conquered!

My first-ever Elder Scrolls character back in Morrowind was a Reguard. I adored playing her and I have played several Redguards in each game since then.

Redguards are fun. I enjoy playing them as characters. That Adrenaline Rush comes in handy

My first attempt to roleplay in TES was with a Redguard!

Yeah, I'd say that my two most memorable characters have been Redguards. In Oblivion, my Etta was an ex-slave pirate Dark Brotherhood badass who was absolutely fun to play. She was feisty and irreverent, and somehow sword-play was just more fun with her than with other characters. And in Skyrim, my Herricka was an Ebony-clad vampire-slaying knight, who didn't start the main quest until level 41, and really felt like a "Dragonborn" as a result.

That's a good idea. I've asked a moderator to move it there.

Redguards are lots of fun cus they are both human and at the same time don't have a stake in both the Empire and the locals.

That's what i am gonna play most probably next Skyrim playthrough.

If I wasn't such a huge fan of Argonians, Redguards would probably be my favorite TES race. Highly intriguing history, characters, and settings in their expansive lore.

Just started a Redguard character on Skyrim, and he's making that steel armour look good while wielding a Skyforge steel battleaxe, atm. According to TES lore, the Yokuda (ancestral Redguards) are also the foremost nautical navigators in Tamriel if not all of Nirn.

Yeah, I love Redguards too. They are my second favorite race after the Dunmer.

I have no idea what Dorne is, but the Redguard have been conquered. Tiber Septim turned them against eachother and marched in, sweeping the Redguard aside and forcing them to heel, until Cyrus managed to lead an uprising years later. It may have been a temporary conquest, leading to a more congenial end result, but it did begin with conquest.

Anyway... the redguard have always been my favorite human race, mostly because Cyrus was my first memorable introduction to them (Daggerfall having next to no character development for them).

Indeed he does along with sellsword.

I really like the Redguard lore, but I've always found their stat bonuses and powers kind of underwhelming.

Calling Hammerfell Dorne is an insult to Hammerfell.

If Hammerfell were Dorne from the books, the Dominon would've probably conquered the province in the aftermath of the Great War as Hammerfell's version of Doran sat around for decades coming up with a bunch of completely nonsensical and stupid plans.

Please do not get me started on the talent-less hack writing that is the HBO version of Dorne...

Who said anything about the TV show version of Dorne?

Given more people watch the show I would assume that is what they refer to.

I have not seen the tv series passed season 3, too disgusted by it. Dorne was conquered for a brief time, but threw off the Targs with a successful revolt, similar to events in Stros M'Kai. Same climate, same appeareance (for those that dwell in the desert, I'm aware other dornish are light skinned). The ancestors of the Dornish (not including the native Andals already present) were the Rhoynar, who fled their homeland after disaster struck it (unknown cause for the Yokudans, Targaryen aggression for the Rhoynar).

How are those similarties just aesthetic lol.

As for Hammerfell being conquered, the Imperial hacks needed to capitalize on Crown and Forebear conflict, and I don't believe Tiber caused this himself. The two factions have been opposed to each other since the Forebears (descendants of the Ra'Gada warrior class who initially cleared the way for the Yokudan exodus) began to adopt cosmopolitan beliefs, while the Crowns (descendants of the Na-Totambu ruling Yokudan class) remained disdainful of outside Tamrielic influences and culture. Even despite their weakened state, Hammerfell was not under occupation long before the successful revolt at Stros M'kai saw them integrated into the empire under favorable terms, and they did this themselves, didn't need a trio of godlike beings to assist them *cough* Morrowind *cough*.

The Redguard badasses also threw off the (admittedly weakened) Aldermi dominion of filthy elves by themselves.

Redguards, heirs to the advanced society and culture of Yokuda. Home of the Sword Singers. The most naturally talented warriors in Tamriel. Unbowed, unbent, unbroken. Didn't need an invincible golem to do their conquering for them either.

Master race of Tamriel. They are the fewest in number among the races (excepting possibly Orcs), and interfactional conflict has held them back, but they still manage to be the most epic peoples of the continent.
