I think ive seen similar bs but with 9 luck i almost always win so screw them ha.Also could someone explain what the *house* advantage is>like a stacked deck?

On what do you base this theory?


This is fascinating and reinforces my experience over the last 30 years of gaming.

In general my biggest complaint with Blackjack is the player doesn't control the pick-up. Cards should remain on the table until the player bets or walks away. in real life the dealer turns, announces, and then matches each player in turn. You can always make the dealer wait (unless you've got a table full of GA dropouts.)

With a Luck of 7 you should win most of the time. With money management you can be a big winner. I usually have 8-10 so gambling is boring.I don't need caps, because by mid-game I've bankrupted all the merchants, they've got nothing else I need and I stop collecting stuff because I have no where else to sell it. They may restock ( I can't confirm this) but they never get more money.

Luckly NV offers more release from stress and I'm older then when I lost four fifths of my 60+ strong army to 20 in the PC version of risk.
So I calmly exit the game, get off my seat like a psychopath and gun every one down, thinking cheat this fudger muckers.



It's ruined my dreams tbh, I planned on booking a flight maxing out my credit, putting 20 down at blackjack and getting 120 back a night.. damn you NV, damn you.


Sorry wrong here just wait three days or more in a seperate location they'll restock plenty, or exit to menu and continue as then their cap multiply as well.

NV teaches us a valuable lesson though. When you go to Vegas IRL, save before you gamble, if you lose, reload.....if only. T_T

it's simple.

In all gambling there are "true" or "correct" odds and "house" odds. The House always shaves the odds; it's called 'vigorish.'

Let's use Roulette because it's easy to see (and it's a bad bet in the US.) For a single number the House pays you 35 units for every unit you bet. If there were 35 numbers on the wheel this would be the correct or "true" odds: 1 in 35. However, on the European wheel there is 0 (giving you another chance to lose—making the odds 36 to 1) and in the US there is also 00 (giving you two extra chances to lose—making the odds 37 to 1.)

The vigorish in a casino runs from a little less than 1% at the craps table (for line and numbers bets with an additional odds bet) up to 25% for Keno. (Remember, when the house comes to you to take your bet, it must be to their advantage.)

Blackjack is about 1.5%; but with some houses (and there is one in New Vegas) paying 6 to 5 for Blackjack (true odds are 3 to 2 or 1.5 to one) that number is increasing. Here's a word about proposition bets on the blackjack table: the vig can be as high as 16%.

Thanks for the reply, yes I understand the reasoning and have done so in the past ( once )..
But beyond playing more a penny ante style and staying in the red, it would take a large security and a bunch of dedication to stay on track.
Not to mention if the entertainment is what is paying for the trip, then you end up losing any enjoyment beyond beating someone / place after what could take the whole trip.
I don't get much of a thrill from that tbh, but then communism runs in the family.


I had one game perform like that a while back with seemingly no restocking, they just ended up restocking the exact same items I found out later.
Try exiting the game to windows / whatever system your on load up menu while in the same cell, then click continue rather than load game, this may help.
I don't know if you fast travel, as I find the stockists tend not to supply regularly if you use FT often.
If none of these help try the less common "merchants" i.e doctors, chefs, and travelling ones.

Finally try starting a new game, see Chet first and then try the waiting game in the tavern in goodsprings for four days.
Then head back to chet and see if he restocks.

Essentially the rules of Blackjack give the dealer a slight advantage over the players. I won't go into the details because I don't fully understand them. In addition a deal will have a lot more experience them most blackjack players as they do it for a living. The end result is the house in the long run will always win more then it loses.

You are right. I finally got at least the BoS and the Gun Runnerbot to reload their cash. I was sure that I gave them enough time before. Oh, well...

Casinos are rigged so that in the end everyone will lose..... unless someone gets really really lucky, but they will probably give the person free drinks so they make bad decisions and end up losing it all anyway. (bewware drink promotions at casinos!)

i swear ive lost multiple times, yet the display showed that i won... i land a 21, they wip out a 27, "you are feeling unlucky, you lose 200 caps" :swear: :banghead: :flame:

i eventually calmed down after it happened 3 more times, and then proceeded to apply blunt trauma to forget it ever happened :happy:

From a rpg point-of-view I understand that your luck stat affects the outcome at the casinos.
I do wonder though whether there's a number for your luck at which the outcome will be determined by a "fair" true random chance.
