yea but i think it would be cool to put a cap in it and out pops one out and if you have a high enough lockpick you can pick it open

it would quickly become a redundant immersion mechanism.

Yup. Bottle Caps wasn't a currency before the war, so putting a bottle cap in there wouldn't do much.
And let's just think that the player finds something to pry open the door.

I'd imagine it's that magic screwdriver we (and no one else, apparently) seem to have, no matter the situation -- virtual reality, all items removed by casino security, whatever.

I mean, buy one soda, then pop in it's cap and get a new soda for free, then pop in "it's" cap and buy yet another soda for free!
And Fallout 2 didn't use bottle caps as currency, they used gold, sweet previous gold.
