Do you think revolutionary war weapons like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_rifleand https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_Bess for examples will be included? I would hope so since it would seem to me like they fit the theme.

why would they fit the theme? they are old EVEN NOW, by the year this game takes place (2270's i think), these weapons would be a pile of rust, except for some remade ones, which are not exactly common, or very good.

The laser musket is based off an actual musket, but I doubt we'll see more than that.

There isn't a whole lot of weaponry from the revolution that can be turned into a laser. Maybe we'll get a cavalry saber at a museum?

However, Lincoln's Repeater was in FO3, and that should have been an old weapon too.

If not the actual weapons, I think they might have replicas. For one reason, they are simple to make. However the reason armies stopped using those weapons will be the same reason you would too, they take forever to load and they are not very accurate (lack of rifling for one)

Because it is set in Boston and there was a ghoul with a redcoat uniform I think and I think I might have seen someone with a tricorn hat, that is what I meant.

And it wouldn't have to be common at least one of each for the player to use would be enough.

I'd like a blunderbuss, or a calvary sword, or a flintlock pistol for poops and giggles. Sure, they are outdated, and will be useless at some point... but imagine being able to modify them with the new system?... Not to mention, with things like lead pipes, tire irons, and nail boards... I'd take a flintlock pistol over a lead pipe any day.

The Kentucky rifle does have rifling, though yes you are right about the reload time. Still, I'd like to have them, mostly because I prioritize rule of cool over practicality, or even making sense. And with the Geck it is easy to make what I like the most better stat wise anyway.

Black powdered weapons are obsolete and there would no reason to consider using them. Highly inaccurate, take for ever to load to the untrained and there are for more modern weapons to be found and used

I'd prefer a punt gun

You mean more modernized, Fallout-y version of the Revolutionary War weapons? 'Cause I think the actual ones became obsolete by the 1840s at the latest.

Lincoln's Repeater was a fun little gun. Zero bullet drift, and hit like a mach truck. Unfortunately, I could very rarely find ammo for it, so I hoarded that stuff and saved it for when it was time to Emancipate.

My only complaint about Revolution Era rifles, is the reload. You got ONE shot before you had to break out the blasting cap, black powder, and ball. This is why in old Colonial and even Civil War movies, they're just standing their, reloading their weapons and hoping they were fast enough getting those big long buggers loaded before the other side got theirs ready.

The magazine and multi-shot weaponry really turned the tide in the 19th century. Granted, Colonial Minutemen militia's got around the stand-and-shoot practice of war by using hit and run tactics adopted from Native American braves, hiding their numbers by taking a shot, and abandoning their rifle to get another one that was laying in wait. Old age Guerilla warfare.

I expect cannon's, Bayonets and perhaps swords would be all we would see as these would be the most easily cast/ made in general by wastelanders and not completely obsolete.

The pipe rifle or a simple zip gun really i would think take the place of the muskets, because you can size them (get a bigger pipe bracket to hold the shell) for different caliber, and you would not have to fuss with powder and shot.

Even then, I would still consider repeaters viable weapon that can be just as efficient as other weapons in the Fallout universe. However, muskets are a whole new area of firearms, and they're absolutely inefficient and useless in almost every way compared to other weapons.

I see no reason for such a weapon to be in Fallout, because Fallout still has it's own theme outside of the Boston setting, and a rubbish musket is far too much of a stretch to fit that theme.

That's what musuems are for. The Lincoln Repeater was found in a museum, so who's to say we won't find General Washington's Rifle or flintlock pistol...

Muzzle loaders, against full auto weapons? Seriously? Only if I was EXTREMELY desperate.

well.....you COULD, if you used a alternate start mod, RP a person from the 19th century who got either abducted by aliens and then released for some reason or frozen, or were time traveled. Either way, the character might prefer to use weapons they are familiar with.......

*writes down idea for RP*

I hope not, that laser musket already is way too silly. Even an actual musket as a replacement for BB guns of old games would make more sense.

I can see it now...

*Fallout 4 release day*

"Woo! They have actual muskets!"

*players use them*

*Two hours later, the forums are filled with "Muskets are teh worst gun evar!" complaint threads*

Lincoln repeater, a lever action rifle is still a valid firearm to use. Black powder muzzle loading weapons are not. You would just get yourself killed
