What happened to the mods I had installed?

What happened to the MODS I had installed? Now I come back to the game and my save games are all messed up. And what's with the no workshop support? I am getting sick and tired of every big company forcing their own client installation onto our systems to make something work.

The mods sometimes get disabled, likely a consequence of the game sometimes updating the .ini files.

You get a warning when a mod is missing from the game (and a list of which mods are missing) and when that happens don't load the save but go back and re-enable them via NMM (or whatever tool you are using).

Just go back into the Mod Manager and reselect them (or go back and manually re-add them to your ini file, and then make a backup copy of the ini file for next time)

A major update/dlc can sometimes over write the INI files that actually load the mods. The Data Files section of the Launcher just makes changes to those files that actually load the mods.

Just recheck the mods in the launcher or mod manager. However, major updates can render existing mods either obsolete or broken until they are updated. This all depends on the update and what it changes, like if it added or changed script functions for instance. So, it is always a good idea to check for updates to your mods after every patch or major update.

You aren't alone - it happened to me once recently, but it was fixable.
