Lever-action rifles in Far Harbour and solid slug weaponary

As you know usually end game weapons tend to be more oriented towards energy rather than solid slugs so I for one would like to see a gun that can match a gauss rifle in damage without being all sparkly and what not. Maybe something like Lever-action rifle from Point Lookout with an even bigger calibre like those used for hunting buffalos or screw it, an elephant rifle :D What do you think?

And what sense would it make logic vise for some antiquated archaic rifle invented two centuries ago to be on par with hi tech futuristic military stuff?

I like the idea of using a weapon caliber designed for killing the megafauna that survived to now. It would probably be a good choice to use against creatures like Super Mutants, Deathclaws, and Yao guai. They are all large with very thick skins presumably with a lot of subcutaneous fat protecting the vital organs.

I know you get plenty of penetration with small caliber rifle rounds, but against something that masses in at 300-400 kg, I'd still want a large bullet with a heavier hit.

Large caliber weapons already exist in the game as .50 receivers for bolt action pipe guns and hunting rifles. Their damage just needs some adjustment.

About as much sense as the guns in this game already make. :P

I do think there's plenty of room in the game to have a .44 Lever-Action Rifle, a .50 Elephant Gun, and a weak .38 Revolver. Remains to be seen what kind of weapons they'll add, though.

What we need is a good ol'fashioned http://1.mshcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Punt-gun.jpg!

I've always liked the look of lever rifles.. In past Fallout's I loved making the cowboy type character who only used revolvers, lever action rifles and a double barrel shotgun. ..You also need a cowboy hat.

Cuz' I'm a cowboy.....

Don't think a lever action would be as strong as a magnetically charged projectile though.

Honestly, I hate the assault rifle. I want an M-16 A4. Would use 5.56 and weigh 7.5 lbs unmodded. Would effectively replace the combat rifle. Would find a few at a military checkpoint locked in a case (master) and the key would be on a feral ghoul with a variant of MacCreedy's Cap on. Maybe a few lesser ferals and a mid-level gutsy.

Hm, maybe they could bring back the Infiltrator from Fallout 3 and sort of make it the "Deliverer" equivalent for Assault Rifles. I think I'd prefer that to a Chinese Assault Rifle.

That's a good idea. I mean, I'd start it as an unmodded M-16 but through mods, be able to make it into an Infiltrator.

The Minuteman hat isn't a bad substitute.

There is .38 revolver in the game already -pipe revolver with .38 receiver.

.44 serve in game role as powerful pistol round -lot of damage, small range, slow fire rate. .44 Lever action would be identical in function to hunting rifle. Reload and action animation would be different but damage, range and fire rate would be almost identical.

Even worst for Elephant gun in .50 as that's literary hunting rifle with .50 receiver -you already have it in two variants.

If Bethesda will be adding new weapons, I imagine it will be ones which would add something unique in to the game, not just merely cosmetic variety. As is the case with Automatron already.

I know, I was agreeing with you.

Still think a lever action would be cool though, because lever actions are awesome.

Unless it have .38 receiver, which you can add at Gun Nut 3.

I am not against more weapons in game, I just think that developers will not be adding weapons just for cosmetic variety. New weapons have to add something other weapon doesn't. Something which makes them distinct also game play wise.

Have you ever seen bullets used to kill extremely large game? https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/e6/21/28/e621287269d121c551353bd62976d37a.jpgA human would get split in half if hit by this ( well not really but it could easily blow up a chunk of your body )

Check the vid here with .577 tyranosaur rounds https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=42&v=-EVqT3XEzssStill not convinced?

Add the fact its a game so recoil wouldn't be an issue by adding a mod or two and you essentially have a superbly powerful sniper, better than 50.cal.

Well they are pretty unique, as they are not semi-automatic. I could see pressing the reload button after each shot to pull the lever and then fire a round, then rinse and repeat.

About as much sense as you saying antiquated and archaic right next to each other in the same sentence.

This is what I've always been saying, though. It wouldn't be hard to design these new weapons in a way that gives them a separate niche to fill in the game so they serve different purposes.

.38 Revolver: More powerful than the .38 Pipe Revolver, with range and accuracy comparable to the .44, but not nearly as modifiable as the Pipe Revolver - which can be chambered for different ammo types, converted into a rifle, etc. Plus, we need a .38 weapon that isn't a pipe gun, and the .38 revolver is pretty iconic.

.44 Lever-Action Rifle: Harder hitting, slower firing, and lower range than the Hunting Rifle, plus it uses a less common ammo type and gives another purpose for .44 ammo.

.50 Elephant Gun would serve the purpose everyone complains that the .50 Hunting Rifle fails to serve - a hard-hitting beast of a gun to put down Behemoths and Mirelurk Queens. I'm thinking single/double shot instead of a magazine, and absurd recoil. I say Elephant Gun instead of Anti-Material Rifle like other peeps because we already have a ton of militaristic weapons.

While we're at it, a .44 Desert Eagle that behaves like a 10mm but hurts like a .44 Magnum (with a little less power, so as not to completely outclass the revolver) would fit in nicely. And a pump-action shotgun is probably my top request for new guns.

I am not disputing their power, I am asking what sense it would make for them to be on par with power of Gauss rifle.

I agree with all of this but the elephant gun and pump action. I like my semi auto alot more.
