Far Harbor speculation: Is Atom real?

Can the children of Atom actually be hearing a powerful being that tells them that he is coming and going to destroy everything kind of like the super-mutant master? I think it would be interesting to a crazy cult be correct for once the crazy cult to be correct. What if the radiation actually does speak to them? I also would like to fight against or along side a crazy behemoth glowing one combo.

What, please, that's ridiculous.

There are no http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ug-Qualtoth. That would be just silly.

Next you will be telling me that there are http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Psyker.

No, no good sir, if you link psykers, you link this http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Psyker

Come to think of it, Children of Atom might not be that different from inbreds in Point Lookout. They aren't genetically mutated but they seem to worship.... SOMETHING. Im pretty sure we are going to explroe their faith and lore a lot more thoroughly and the reason why they don't ghoulify.

Considering those atom guys at the crater in the glowing sea are actually surviving without any protective gear, such magical handling of plot is not really unexpected from Bethesda.

Like how gouls can survive in a fridge without food or anything for 200 years.

So sure... Why not...

Controversial things being crammed into Fallout aside, the children of Atom are just insane. No more, no less.

That quest was a lore oversight. It is not canon. Not only does every other canon Fallout game contradict it, Fallout 4 itself also contradicts it.

Are they tho? I dont think we should make quick judgements here without seeing what Far Harbour has to offer. Im sure them being on Far Harbour is connected to something more than just superb radiation.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Great_Division

1. In the beginning Atom created the first division of light from darkness, and the name of the first is Fission

2. It is that which compassath the whole kingdom of Atom, wherein there is the glow

3. And the stars cast His glow upon the firmament, and through it creatures were divided from the earth and made with eyes to perceive His glory

4. And for a time the great division continued and created all manner of creature which tested themselves to be worthy of Atom

5. Thus came forth man, who had the potential to understand the true form of Atom

6. But man was weak and, swayed by false gods, sought to enslave Atom wrapping his mortal gifts in the coils of a great copper wyrm

7. But His prophets were not swayed, and through them Atom's bonds were broken and His trumpets soundeth as the breaking of the world

8. And where His shackles were loosed a tree of light grew upon the earth and in its blooming, cast forth a cleansing fire

9. The faithful knew that they still had His love; for where the tree bloomed His seal was placed upon the earth wherein they might drink the waters of the glow

10. Still the wicked did not believe and so stars of heaven fell upon the earth carried by winged chariots and his trumpets sounded for 40 days

11. Thus the land was cleansed and a second great division began

12. But as with the wyrm, the unbelievers hid below the earth from the Eye of Atom, trapped in their ignorance

13. To they He has delivered new prophets and said unto them

14. I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water of the glow

15. And you shall weild the arrow of my judgement upon them

16. Pity not the wailing of heretics, for their tears shall be dried in the flames

17. And their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet in the division

18. And their eyes shall consume away in their holes to behold the glory of Atom

19. And their tongue shall consume away in their mouth to better speak His name

20. And so shall you do my works upon the earth

A. Thats not how canon works

B. We have seen ghouls as far back as Fallout 3 lock in areas with no food or water, that have been locked for 200 years, and yet still live.

Far Harbor having high levels of radiation is exactly why they are there. Those lunatics gravitate towards places that have nukes and high levels of radiation like flies to a corpse.

Stars>Cosmos > Eldritch > Lovecraft > Maine > Far Harbour D: Fishmen confirmed!

On a serious note, yes they are lunatics, but I assume their physiology and comitment to atom will be more elaborated upon in Far Harbour. Perhaps we'll even have access to their rituals or something.

A. So then by your logic jet is also pre-war because a terminal states it is. EVen though Bethesda confirmed that was a lore oversight as well.

B. Fallout 3 flat out says that Ghouls have the same biological needs as humans do (food, water and oxygen).

They are clearly surviving just fine in a clearly deadly enviornment though.

How do you explain that then ?

A. They confirmed no such thing.

B. Just because they can eat doesn't mean they have to.

Fallout 4 outright shows wholly DEAD ghouls being brought back to life via radiation from glowing ones.

If Atom is real, I'll just kill him too.

Hokey cults and ancient eldritch deities are no match for SCIENCE!

A. They did actually.

B. You realize that if you don't fix the Ghouls's water chip in necropolis in Fallout 1 they die of dehydration right? That stupid kid should have died of dehydration.

So again, it's a lore oversight.

They are clearly unhealthy if you look at their physical appearance and Virgil's terminal flat out states that they aren't doing well despite not outright saying it.

They could also have mutated in some way.

Fallout 1 also states that ghouls are the production of FEV and radiation, whereas all future games say its simply radiation.

Similarly, Fallout 1 states all ghouls are from Necropolis, and Fallout Tactics, 3, nv, and 4, disprove that also.

Its called a retcon, happens all the time in fictional universes.

Fallout NV also stated that Harland required food and water to survive. He flat out stated he survived on radroach meat and condensation off of the pipes for water. Which again proves that they require food and water to survive.

New Vegas also showed things like people turning into ghouls instantly, whereas previous lore stated its a long process.

Also, New Vegas showed a General Atomics robot inside a RobCo owned facility, listed as a RobCo product.

Again, its called retcons.

Do you guys actually think we might see Children of Atom in different state than in Boston? I wonder if they're going to be an enemy faction or will you actually be able to join them. The info kinda hints that we shouldbe able to " navigate " through the growing conflict.

This.

X6 an I will just be in Far harbor to bag and tag some lost hardware, but if this Atom person is real than he/it/w.e it is can come get some. The Institute could always use some mutated creature/thing/wannabegod to experiment on--dead or alive. :)

You need to learn your lore along with Bethesda it seems.

Something that contradicts other things in the exact same game is an oversight, not a retcon. Learn the difference

Except nothing in Fallout 4 contradicts it.

Again, Fallout 4 shows ghouls and be literally brought back from the dead via radiation, Billy could have easily survived in the fridge simply from the radiation from all the rad storms.

The children of atom make alot of references to "him" or "the great divide" (maybe from the new vegas DLC? Somehow.) coming so im sure we'll see something of it in DLC

I really hope we can have the option for a peaceful resolution in far harbor or choose to destroy every one.
