Horror in The Elder Scrolls!

Now I know The Elder Scrolls is not a Horror Game not do I want it to be. I merely want to add some thrill and shock in it. Fallout 3 was scary as heck! At least to me (dont hate mail), there was always some dark cave or place to get a thrill out of. Bring that in TES5, turn up the haunting music, let in the ghosts and ghouls and scare me! Oblivion wasnt all that scary, sure it had its moments. I would like it if maybe you heard some growling or seen shadows spring past you, scare us!

While I don't want it to be primarily a horror-based game (I like light and happiness and all that), I like a bit of scary here and there. Mystery would be fun too. I loved the Whodunnit? quest in Oblivion. I just wish it had been more involved.

I really hope for some more horror. The forts and dungeons in Oblivion were very vannila. Nothing very scary or spectactualar, minus a few very cool ones. A dungeon should be scary, you should be scared to go around every corner, cause afterall, they are abandoned and decrepit ruins, they should scare the [censored] outta you.

I'm all for this but lets try and limit to places that should be scary like dungons and mabe old castles or places like that and make it more unique and special each time

They should definitely add some horror (i.e. Entering a large, dimly lit cavern, and you can faintly see what appears to be the tail of a creature disappear from view behind a large rock. More subtle stuff is what I was going for)

There are already several topics on this... But on topic, yes I definitely want some horrors elements in dungeons.

This. Along with a couple of dark quests.

I personally think it's fine the way it is, places that should be creepy give off that vibe...

Suspense and Horror is nice in TES. It's almost always there, except for Oblivion. I don't think it delivered so much. Now Morrowind and Daggerfall. Wow. I hated traveling at night in Daggerfall.

Id definitely like a bit more variation and grit.
The dark brotherhood quest line is about as dark as it gets in oblivion, and even then its a big ol happy family, and whats shocking about that?
Id say they're heading in a more varied direction though judging from their work on fo3, but who knows at this stage.

Ahh Yes, the Whodunnit? quest was awesome. You had to kill each person without the other knowing just wish it would of been longer an like more extensive AI. Also I kinda wanted the house maybe with my victims stuffed on the wall.

I'm okay with there being horror in Skyrim, as long as it is limited to dungeons, caves, and castles. Don't try to incorporate it throughout the entire game. A few scary places here and there is fine.

Yes, yes thats what I mean. In oblivion Night travel was no biggy. Now if there were like Werewolves or creatures stalking the night then i would definantly be staying in town.

If anything, I think I more suspenseful experience could easily come from a revamped and upgraded combat system. If that's done correctly, then I think the rest would take care of itself.

There wasn't a 'so scary it sends chills down my spine' option....I am disappoint :shakehead:

In certain places. The first time I played Morrowind I was scared to go into Ilunibi. I want Skyrim to be like that. It should be so immersive that there are times when you are legitimately hesitant to turn the corner. I never felt that in Oblivion.

Well, for some reason I can't vote... But I definitely think they should add some horror aspect to it. It would create an awesome immersion in caves, and vampire (AND DRAGON) lairs.

I agree that there should be so be some horror elements in dungeons, forts, caves, etc. But not everywhere in the game.
