Hello, I'm new here

I've been wondering. We all know Skyrim is pretty damn huge. Much bigger than Cyrodiil. But is it bigger than Morrowind, which is also massively huge?

In fact Skyrim's map size is about the same as Oblivion's (in fact a little bit smaller) and thus a fair bit larger then Morrowind's.

And there's ALOT of topics on this. There's a search button too

Morrowind felt bigger because you were constantly channeled back and forth through brown sand storm plagued, cliff racer infested canyons.

it's all about the permimiter setup,
oblivion is bigger but due to how it tails of towards some of the major cities and the bulge up from below it seems smaller than it was whereas skyrim is pritty rectangular by comparison.

The fog of war effect made Vardenfell seem bigger than it was. It's part of the reason they included no full view distance setting, to make the world seem larger. The other reason was technical limitations.

In terms of imagination involved in terrain and dungeon construction, and variation in terrain it was far bigger than Oblivion of course.

Skyrim feels as large as Morrowind did. imo.

Oblivion's problem was, in most cases you could see each city from another. Made the world feel small. The lack of mountain ranges in the middle of the map didn't help either, allowed you to just go straight to your destination in most cases.

Even on horse it seems to take ages to get to a location in Skyrim.

This is exactly my thoughts. I felt that Oblivions terrain needed a lot more variation.
