Skyrim and gamepad support

Hello fellow adventurers,
sadly I'm still waiting for my copy of Skyrim to arrive(hopefully this week) so I envy every single one of you who can freely go slay mighty dragons and less mighty random stuff.
Anyway back to the point,I'm thinking of buying a gamepad to play Skyrim with, since it seems very console friendly (I have an old Microsoft SideWinder gamepad but i guess it's not gonna do the trick for Skyrim).
From a quick search i found out that it supports the XBOX 360 controller, so i guess it's more like plug and play with no other tweaks or programs needed.
However I'd like to save as much as i can so I'm leaning towards the Logitech F310 gamepad(It's about 10€ cheaper than the Xbox controller or the Logitech F510, and the Vibration on those don't think it's worth it)
So anyone tried it?Does Skyrim support it or does it need tweaking\other programs to run smoothly with the game?
Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance.
