Why choose Dragon Armor when Daedric is clearly the better one in providing "stronger" protection. Makes no sense at all.

You can make light Dragon Armor but Daedric is always heavy.

By the time you get to that level, its about aesthetics. Though I believe someone figured out that you can enchant anything to any piece of dragon armor, I don't know if that is true but it would make it more beneficial. Also, it looks much better IMO.

Dragonbone armour looks better imo, so I'm using that.
I've never liked the appearance of daedric armour in any TES game.

Dragon Armor's techically easier to make but yeah I agree, Daedric over Dragon. Light armor is a different story, Drakescale is better then Glass and much easier to make.

This game is much more fun if you quit paying attention to making your character as strong as possible. Wear what you think is fun to wear. Have both suits. You'll find that in either, your character will survive fights, and the foes will die. You could wear steel armor and have the same results. You don't need to be optimal to play this game and enjoy it. To that end, they've capped the effectiveness of armor so that the end result is that most armors are essentially equivalent. One might have slightly higher numbers on them, but the effects of those numbers is the same.

There is an armor cap that can be reached with an incomplete Iron armor set. You are free to choose any armor you like. One can make a purely aesthetic choice in Skyrim, unlike in previous games.

There is Dragonplate and Dragonscale armour, Dragonscale is Light Armour, Dragonplate is Heavy Armour.

OT: Dragonplate may be a better option because it is easier to acquire the required amount of Dragon Bones than Daedra Hearts, which are pretty rare.

Cool! That explains it then. Thank you.

HUH??????? HOW. I've been rolling with Steel Plate armor for a while now, and it's nowhere near the cap, but then again it's only at Epic status. Do I need gloves of 19283091283% smithing?

In the end it really doesn't matter. When updatingmy skyforge steel swords I do my armor as well. My dragon plate is over 800 total armor rating with perks. So it really doesn't matter. I personally stay away from daedric armor if I can.

You have to abuse the smithing/enchanting/alchemy loop to get that, I believe.

No there are two different types when you go to craft. That is why Dragons drop Bones and Scales. There is DragonBone: Heavy and DragonScale: Light.

I haven't made steel over cap, but try this. Smithing gloves, chest, ring and amulet all at 25% min and a smithing elixir at 50% you should with perks get close or over, but I'm not sure.

Well, if you want an Iron one then yes.

Thing is eventually you'll end up with all skills at 100, so why not do that?

I think it's a matter of taste. I personally like Wolf armor so have that as high as possible. I have a high elf mage so I might just go as high as elven and stop there and then just improve with as high of blacksmith as possible. I don't care about the cap, just having fun.

My only question is, is can you find Dragon Armor? Or is it only craftable? That's my only question.

Yeah, I'm lvl 36 and found a Dragonplate helmet. Awesome for me since I like daedric armor except for the helmet and now I don't have to waste a perk on Dragon smithing.

The cap is I think at an armor rating of 571. Smith using potions and fortify smithing equipment. I have Daedric armor that adds up to over 1000 AR. I don't use it because I give it to followers that are too dumb to stay back and instead charge an Ancient dragon

Had a Frost Dragon land pretty well right on top of my Battlemage the other day. Full Deadric armor and weapons with the armor at just over 500. Beat it to death with the big sword, it's hitting at 120 or so.. Blew my mind I've never done that before.
