Hello sorry for the milionth thread on this topic but..

Will this computer run skyirm on Max 1024 x 1280

2gb of RAM? Hell no. Upgrade the RAM, the video card, th.... you know what, just build a brand new computer in October. Just make sure of the following:

4+ cores
8gb of RAM (4gb is what I consider bare minimum these days, I recommend 6-8 for normal use)
1TB or bigger Hard Drive
The best video card you can afford in October

...that's a bit overstated. For "normal use".

For "kick the butt of any game that comes out" maybe.

I'm sorry but I don't get this.. How could people possibly know which PCs that can run Skyrim on these and these settings and which ones that can't? No information has been released about system requirements yet.

I have 3GB and I can play oblivion with 250 mods, Crysis, Crysis 2 and GTA 4 with Maximum Settings.
It's so easy to write you need to buy 900GB as to actually afford money for all that.

I have 8gig DDR3 ram and I use nowhere that amount. You be better off finding a fast 4gig kit vs just getting 8gig. Thats the mistake i made on my rig and I now regret not going for the faster 4gig kit.

and the cpu is a bit weak, i used a 2.6ghz x2 5200+ (but have since upgraded) which is about the same as yours, with skyrim i can see the game lagging quite a bit because of it, and believe me, cpu lag is far worse than low fps from the gpu

also, the gpu will run the game at that resolution, it has plenty of vram to run with textures maxed most likely.

but we dont know what "maxed" settings will be like in the game, but your gpu will run the game at max, its just a matter of how smoothly, whether its 5fps or 30 or 60, we have no basic knowledge on the game, the lack of information regarding the pc side of things is very...well...lacking

oh and one more thing...that 500gb hdd, is it a cavier "black?" beacuse if its a green or blue...youll need to upgrade that, because if the game has heavy streaming for loading areas in the game, dont expect a stable experience. especially from those eco [censored] hdd's

it's actually fairly easy to guess minimum and recommended specs....just because they have to limit what they can do so consoles can run it.

cpu is fine, most games barely tap into the second core of processers, maxed games on my computer only take around 2.2 GHz so you should be fine with the cpu.
video card will live through it to, try to check the core clock on it and mem clock on the GPU (video card.)
you need better RAM, 800 Mghz is pretty slow for computers, try finding at least 4 GB of 1200Mghz RAM, at the most you need is 8GB for RAM once i getn there i never see a diffrece of 8GB and anything higher.
lastly what is the LB2 Cache on your processer. this can change the idea of how much RAM you need?

RAM is amazingly cheap. For the OP, adding a little RAM wouldn't be a bad idea but not because of Skyrim. That system will probably run Skyrim just fine but I'm not sure how well Win 7 runs with that little RAM (I put 8 in my Win 7 machine).

Because it's being made primarily for consoles and that technology hasn't changed for about 5 years now. Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas all have pretty much the same requirements as each other, so using any of those games as a basis, you can pretty much guess how a system will work with Skyrim. There's still room for error of course, but it should be a pretty good educated guess.

Your computer will run Skyrim on max with all the graphical mods that are out. It will even run two instances of the game so you can play two characters at once.

What's the point of giving someone such outrageous advice when it's not even remotely realistic? Most of that makes no sense at and will just result in someone wasting a bunch of money. For instance, 8 gig of RAM is going to be pointless as it will no doubt be a 32 bit game. By default 32 bit programs can only use up 2 gigs, so having that much RAM is going to be pointless. Depending on his motherboard, 4 will be enough if it uses dual-channel RAM, only 3 if it makes use of tri-channel. And who needs a a 1TB hard drive. Most people are never going to come close to filling that up. What he has is fine, he doesn't have to waste money on a new one. As for the video card, if you had slightest clue about them, you'd realize that what he has should already be good enough. No one's going to need a top of the line video card game, a reasonably good one will do just fine. He'll probably be able to max the game out with that thing, he doesn't have to spend more money on a new one at all. His processor is fine as well, though it is a bit on the weak side it will be good enough for Skyrim.

not a bad idea to wait. some of what are now 'top end' cards will undoubtedly be dropping in price. even current middle range cards will come down and be very affordable.

Just do a bit of research before you spend money on that CPU, your motherboard may not be able to use a new CPU as the socket configuration might be different. That's the area where your CPU plugs in to your motherboard, and the arrangement of the various pins that are used to connect the two together change on a regular basis. Your CPU is getting a bit old now, and the socket configuration might be different than the newer CPUs that are available. So you might need to replace your motherboard as well.

So I know the Nvidia 9400m is far from the best graphics card, but seeing as it's the only option for me, any idea if it would run the game on medium settings with decent fps?

My processor is 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Due and I have 4GB of RAM.

This ran Fallout 3 with absolutely no problems (I can't remember what the graphics settings were at, but they seemed fine to me).

You'll probably be OK then. As I mentioned, the basic requirements for these games haven't changed all that much since Oblivion, and the same will probably hold true for Skyrim. You might need to turn your settings down a notch or two but that should be about it.

The topic creator might not even need more RAM. They may even suffer a drop in performance if their RAM is dual channel and they don't upgrade it properly. I'd be more worried about the graphics card, which under-performs the graphics hardware in the PS3/Xbox 360.

You don't know what you're talking about, that card can run circles around anything that's in the PS3/360. Its' one of the newest of the ATI cards and should be more than powerful enough to max the game, or at the very least set it to High. I have an 8800GT that can run Fallout 3 at a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and his card will easily out perform mine.
