To complete Ahjazda's quest I have to retrieve the Amulet of Destruction from Milchar, pvssyrhall. As you already know, the Diligence Crux that holds the amulet cannot be opened if all the three podium fires aren't lit at the same time. My telekinesis spells help me with the Ceremonial Torch very well... But unfortunately the fires extinguish after a few seconds, so even running or jumping I've never managed to keep all of them lit at once. Very frustrating.

Is there a way to make this quest a bit easier, apart from the console?

Some people find telekinesis makes it easier, but sounds like you've tried that.

I just recommend saving and then practicing a lot.

There is not trick that I know of that makes it very easy. But it can be done.

Mmm... I'm not sure why you'd use telekinesis, but that might be part of the problem. I dunno. I just grab the torch and start running laps, hitting each brazier in turn, and sooner or later I get them all going at once.

Maybe try some combination of feather and fortify speed, to increase your running speed.

Probably. Anyway I tried grabbing the torch with the "Grab" key as well, wearing a Fortify Speed ring and using help from other stuff... still very difficult. But maybe I only need to practice as you suggested. We'll see.
This is however the most difficult quest in SI (and probably in all of Oblivion as well). It just stress me. :wacko:

Make sure you don't stop running. You have to do everything in stride.

Fortify your speed and endurance and make sure you aren't too encumbered and then just run the track. I am not aware of any "tricks," either.

If you have a telekinesis spell with a long range, position yourself behind the podium fire, where you got the torch from initially, and then face toward the other podium fires. Then from there use your telekinesis spell, in a sort of "V" pattern. While using telekinesis, you probably know that using the block button/ key will pull the object toward you. Well, your attack button/ key will push the object away from you. Start by, lighting one of the fire podiums in the corner, then pull the torch toward you to light the fire podium in front of you, and finally push the torch to the other fire podium in the corner. That's the best I can think of/ explain. It may take a little practice.

Also, unequip any armor or weapons you have. They can slow you down a lot, especially heavy armor.

Usually I do like puzzles, but this one is really too difficult. KoTN's puzzles were better indeed...



I tried with my telekinesis staff, but now that I'm thinking about that, a regular telekinesis spell should work better. Thanks for the advice schmoe, useful as usual.



I'll do that. My characters always keep the armor on, so this could be the cause of the problem.

just run whilst you move the torch over the braziers as you go. i did it in two tries (first one was becaues i didnt notice the first torch)

Once you have 100 heavy armor it dosn't slow you.

Any equipped weapons will also slow you down.

Yes, but that will require time: increasing skills is quite difficult at high level. So I'll definitely have to unequip my armor in order to run faster.

I am unable to pick the torch up. When I try to pick it up I get the following message: "The ritual torch can be held by any, but owned by none." Is there a particular method to picking this up? I've tried everything that I know of!

Err...this thread is 8 months old, but...

You don't pick it up and put it in your inventory, you "grab" it with the the grab key (default Z) and move it around.
