[POLL] - Alternate Start Mods and a [REQ]

First off: the Poll

What alternate start mod(s) do you use and what feature(s) do you like about it? I ask because I plan on revamping the alternate start scenario from my WIP mod http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1042037&hl=. I've come to realize that my alternate start scenario isn't close to the quality of other alternate start mods already released.

I added three other questions: http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk447/xcentric_14/Oblivion%20Prelude%20-%20Kvatch%20WIP/Oblivion2008-07-0218-58-47-25.jpg (1, 7, and 15), specialization (for raising skills and attributes for the chosen staring level), and http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk447/xcentric_14/Oblivion%20Prelude%20-%20Kvatch%20WIP/Oblivion2008-07-0219-01-30-06.jpg (just adds a guide book for that particular city, and Kvatch is included as well). I feel other alt-start mods do so much more and present things better. For example, Alternate Start Revamped allows the player to start in one of ten different
locations. Alternative Start by Robert Evrae has two starting cities and lots more choices in character creation.

I am considering combining some features from each mod. A general idea I have is: starting the game in a dream scenario. The player will encounter several events within the dream that allows the player to determine their starting stats. Then the player is able to choose where to wake up from the dream, either at a player-owned house or a ship in Anvil.


Now for the second part of this thread: the Request

I need someone who may be able to re-texture Chorrol middle class architecture. Here's what I would prefer in an alternate start mod:
  • Character creation all in one go and right at the start. I prefer not to integrate character creation into the story.
  • Begin in the Inn at Weye. It's close to the IC, so it doesn't mess too much with the geographic start of the game.
  • Delay the main quest until you are arrested in the IC. When you go to jail, the main quest begins normally.

Yeah you could get framed or wrongly arrested as part of some kind of quest, and then have that move right into the main quest. I might even use that mod.

At the moment, I use Alternate Start Revamped. It's a pretty good one and I like the choices of homes it offers. Though you can't really start in that cave if your using FCOM though. Insta-killed by all the vamps.

I use the Alternative Start Arrive by Ship by Robert Evrae because I do not like the stupid intro Vanilla have to offer.

Also, I avoid vampirism like a plague.

Called TuStartingOptions, and so far it seems pretty solid. It is also one in which the main quest only gets activated when you are thrown in jail, however one must do a specific thing to be thrown into the Vanilla Starting Cell, allowing players to commit regular crimes.

Thank you for your votes and replies. :) From what I observe, most people who use alternate start mods like to have more choices with character creation. I will definitely keep that in mind when I start working on the alt-start scenario for my mod.

Just the other day I found this one:

This one definitely flew under my radar. I just finished downloading it and I'm gonna give it a try right now.

I was using Alternate Start Revamped but after finding this one http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23757

I switched. It offers way more choices. Heck, you can start in a prison of you choice as a beggar with a disease if you want. Which I have and with the Pestilent Afflictions mod and real health. After you manage to get out of jail you are frantically trying to hunt down a mandrake root or a alter of the nine. Let me tell you lol I coughed up blood and died feet from the alter once. Awesome! heh

On the flip side you can start out as a Merchant with some nice money, weapons, a house and horse.

It also stops the Main Quest until you either get caught committing a crime in the Imperial City or you break the Kvatch Siege.

Only thing I wish is that is was compatible with Open Cities. Starting out on the street in the mod will put you in the City world not Tamriel. But I can live with that.

After playing oblivion since it came out... yea I'm tired of the main quest, alternate starts breath new life into a game that would normally have gotten quite old by now.
