You'll be fine.
There are some problems with Vista, but the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/ has the solutions. Basically, just change the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/page__p__11352753#entry11352753 and you'll avoid all the problems.

Morrowind prefers Direct X9, so make sure you have that installed too.

GOTY doesn't need any official patches, but there are some community made ones that are deemed essential by most players. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060141-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/page__p__15392814#entry15392814 has the info (and info on mods if you decide you use them.)

Have fun!

I don't mean to double post but I was also looking at the mod lists and all the graphical enhancers and I was wondering like how far I could go to still be able to enjoy the game without any hiccups thanks!
