You are gonna get very few people to agree with you since:

1-mods normally fix bugs and extend the life of a game
2-People here love them some mods
3-the extremely active modding communities for Oblivion, Morrowind, and Fallout.

No I don't hate mods.

I think part of my issue is that if I have a choice of buying the same game for PC or 360, I'll go with 360 every time.

and
4-they're clearly an "intended use" of the game, since Beth made it so easy (both via file structures and the release of the GECK) to mod.

--------

as to the other part...... different game genres, I'd rather get on different systems.
Platformers, racing, JRPG type games? Console.
FPS's, RTS's, strategy, MMO, western RPG? Computer.
Some things just work better with keyboard/mouse, and others work better with a good controller.

Would not be able to stand Morrowind/Oblivion/FO3 on a console. /brrrr

I hate mods! There so stupid all they add is new stuff that doesn't fit the game at all. None of them have any lore either, they should of just kept the game the way it was.

Now please don't insult me or anything i'm just telling you my opinion ok.

Fun to use and make!

Sometimes it feels like they leave games half-unfinished just so mods are almost a requirement.

To me, Mods make everything more fun, sometimes challenging and people are very creative when it comes to making mods, which makes the game more interesting.

Also, I'd like to point out that technically dlc's are mods.

They only ruin the game if you let them.

ie: You download a mod that makes you superhuman with access to all weapons, all perks granted and both houses.

And I'm betting the OP's dislike of mods has something to do with the fact that he can't get them on Xbox and the fact that he's making multiple threads within moments of each other again

Oh, yeah, I hate mods.

For instance, there is some devious bastard who took time out to create a mod that is an unofficial patch that fixes some of the stuff that Bethesda hasn't gotten around to. What a jerk, right? How dare he fix the game? How dare he fix Dogmeat, so the dog is a dog with 500 hitpoints, rather 15,000?
How dare he fix the lighting effects in Paradise Falls?

And there are others, who dare to create extra quests and adventures. What scumbags. They've got a lot of nerve using their time and imagination creating new content for my game.

Sarcasm aside, hating mods is about the most ignorant and narrow-minded thing I've ever heard. First of all, many of the mods fix things that were broken. Others add new content, some good, some bad. It is up to the user to filter out the bad.

But guess what? If someone doesn't like mods, they don't have to download them. Simple, yes? Why on Earth someone would want to waste their time and energy hating something they don't even have to acknowledge or associate themselves with in any way is beyond me.

They are the official mods.

But a mod all the same. Just these cost you money and are made by the company.

What is there to hate?

I do prefer my games as they were intended (unmodded) and most mods I use/used have ruined my game - in my case as constant crashing, and currently all my saves get corrupted after 10 minutes of playing - but I don't hate them. Usually they work fine. And besides, most Bethesda games - that I've played - need mods to fix bugs or crappy (subjective) design decisions. I think Morrowind is the only one I've played unmodded.

Those are fighting words! :toughninja:

:hehe:

I've overmodded games before, or spent longer than I would have liked trying to deal with compatibility issues. However these are uncommon problems, at least for me. I have always been very choosy about what mods I install but overall I think they're an amazing addition - not a problem.

They're more like expansions. He means user created mods. I for one love them, both creating and using them, but sadly my PC is only powerful enough to run Morrowind, so no Fallout 3 mods for me.

Of course, then you catch the bug and you can't escape, all you do is mod, and you only play the game to test things. Really, I played Morrowind for 9 months, I must have only really played about 50 hours at it, but over 1000 of modding. Still, I got a lot of enjoyment out of it, so its worth it either way.

@HD: Yeah, you totally ruined my last playthrough of GTA IV. Thanks a lot.

Yes. DLC's are are made by the company and sometimes cost money. Someone could have made the same exact thing if Beth hadn't have come up with it, and it would still be a mod.

depends on what the mods do.. if they improve the graphics, fix buggies, add something unique but isnt too powerful, then Im all for them. If theyre for way over powered weapons or cheats then naa Ill pass.

What, like, Tamriel Rebuilt? Blaphemous Revenants? Its down to the mod user to find stuff he likes, or fits in with the lore.
