Hey, not trying to advertise or anything and let me know if this isn't kosher but I see a lot of people (like me) liked FO3 enough to go back and play 1 and 2. Someone mentioned this deal to me the other day, and I figure some of you guys might be interested as well. FO 1 and 2 for $10, there's some other good games up there too :) http://www.gog.com/en/page/holiday_promo

I just picked up Fallout Tactics from GOG to play on my VM (VMWare Fusion on a Macbook Pro) but it didn't work. :( I'm hoping that won't be the case with FO 2 (which I was planning on buying once restoration project 1.3 is released).

I have to say it here also in case if someone don't know about it; there is Restoration project for FO2. Please download that if you're going to play FO2 just because it'll make game the way it was ment to be. Fixes bugs and extends the game to full scale.

digital copies are forever.
cds wear out.
return to the website 20 years later? game's still there.
return to the cd? probably not in the best condition.

Actually, the reverse is often true. The past 12 months are full of DRM retailers who have gone out of business, taking peoples music collections with them.

And with the economy going the way it is, with people cutting back on luxuries like entertainment, I wouldnt be suprised if more followed.

The belief that discs will "self destruct" is silly; unless you don't take care of your CDs they're probably going to outlive you. I've got plenty of PC discs from 1993 that I've used hundreds of times, and they still work with no problems. Discs can be damaged beyond repair, but chances are this will only happen if you just leave them lying around in a disorganized manner where they can get stepped on, and abused in other ways.
