Hi, first of all, sorry if my English is bad:) I want to know to know to which real life drugs do the drugs correspond so I could better role-play my character. I am playing FO2 so I would be mainly interested in drugs from that game. I was thinking that jet would be heroine, buffout could be ecstasy maybe? What do you think?

Buffout is a Steroid.

Jet is an inhalant that's based off of cow dung, so take from that what you will.

Psycho and Mentats... Idunno. Psycho is pretty unique, being a combo of multiple chemicals that mix right before going in your blood.

Mentats seem to be Mentos that have Ritalin or Aderol or some other drug that increases focus in them.


Fallout 3 does introduce a chem called Med-X, which is supposed to be Morphine, and was even originally called morphine in the game before it was changed for legal reasons involving Australia's video game rating laws.

Jet is actually a metamphetamine.

But it's still inhaled, and based on cow dung, yes? So that kind of distinguishes it from what we see as normal amphetamines I think. Still, I guess the closest thing is Meth.

It is stated to be a powerful metamphetamine in-game.

There are quite a wide variety of drugs in the Fallout Universe. More in Fallout 2 than others...

In Fallout 2:

beer and liquer=alchohol (consumed)

jet=methamphetamines (based of brahmin droppings) (inhaled, very addictive)

healing powder=herbal painkillers (consumed)

psycho=combination adreneline, painkiller, metaboloids and psychotropic medication (injected, highly addictive)

hypo=star trek (injected, non-addictive, no side effects)

stimpack and super stimpack= adreneline, powerful stimulants and vitamins (injections)(super stimpacks have dangerous withdraws)

buffout=steroids (pills) (addictive)

mentats=candy and ridilin (consumed)

rad x=neumene (pills)

radaway=treatment that bonds with irradiated particles and helps pass them from the body (injected)

super mutant cure=fev retro virus (theoretically) (injected)

antidote=remedy made from toxins (consumed)

heart medication=heart medication (pills)

nuka cola=cola and cocaine (which is historically accurate)

In Fallout Tactics:

afterburner=gum and cocaine

antidote=cure all anti toxin (injected)

mutie=forced evolution virus (injected)

in my opinion like energy drinks, it probably has been processed so much it will not smell like [censored] at all, and its probably light blue/gray in color.

In game it seems more reddish, but maybe that's just the container.

Eh, I always took Psycho too be something like PCP (Angel Dust/Phencyclidine).

Jet is made from brahmin dung that came from Brahmin which have been fed a specific synthetic protein developed before the war. Jenkem was made up by some interbutt trolls to scare the **** out of local news producers/reporters and it worked.

Slightly off topic, I think PCP has to be the most hardcoe drug around.

Wouldn't Jet be a inhalant form of Crystal Meth? It couldnt be heroin because heroin doesnt make you hyper its the opposite, Med-X is morphine which is less potent heroin essentially.

Buffout cant be a steroid because steroids don't work that quickly, maybe caffeine mixed with some sort of hallucinogen.

Mentats would probably some kind of stimulant, maybe cocaine based.

Psycho, is some sort of adrenaline/psychotropic drug mix.
