After hearing the decision to go after Alfons, Edward started walking towards the location where the note said he was located.

(OCC: It might be best if you did a recap of the events in the last story for future readers.)

Nememiah sighed. He had just got comfortable here, not to mention he was still tired. He shook himself - someone was in danger, this was no time for self-pity. It was strange, the more time he spent in the wastes, the less inclined to do good he became. Get a grip he said to himself. This is a bad passage of thought to go down.

Nememiah retrieved his bag and rifle. He admired the dirty wood and metal work on the weapon, running his fingers along the smooth shaft. It was a stunning weapon - he had never really payed much attention to the small details before tonight. Strange how something so beautiful could commit such ugly acts. He looked at the dog, still sleeping under the rocky overhang. The bandages were still stained with it's blood - hopefully the rest had done it good. Gently touching the animal on the side, it woke with a start. For a fleeting moment he saw the vicious killer in the dogs eyes, it glanced at him with bloodthirsty hunger. But the next second, it was a puppy again, looking up at him with large, round eyes, the white moon reflected in the black spheres.

"Come on." he said, returning to the group. He was going to have to think of a name for this thing, if it was committed to following him around. "Well then," he said, now to the group at large. "Are we making a move?"

Edward turned around and said, "We're rescuing Alfons, but I suggest we split into smaller groups on the way to maximise stealth and minimize dectection. That way the Enclave can't just kill us all in one Vertibird strafing run. Any other ideas? Objections?"

Nememiah nodded. He was no tactician, but Edward's plan sounded logical to him. "Well then, who will lead each group? Anyone here have previous leadership experience?"

Jake screwed the last bolt onto his Laser Sniper, "Hopefully this'll work.." Jake whispered to himself. Jake anxiosuly pulled the trigger.

A stream of red raged out of the barrel of the rifle, and hit a nearby tree. Jake was awstruck, for not only did it work, it was extremely powerful. When the laser had hit the tree it went straight through the bark and out the other side, then the beam of light disappeared into the barren horizon of the night. "Well finally.." Jake sighed. "I've been working on this forever, its finally finished." Jake said with pride in his voice.

The flash of red light distracted Nememiah momentarily. Glancing around, he spotted Jake, cradling his rifle. "Impressive." he remarked. "Hey, Jake - you were in the outcasts, right? What would you say about leading a detachment against the Enclave?"

Edward saw the display and said, "Congratulations Jake, you finally got your Laser Sniper working, this'll be perfect for punching through their Power Armor."

Jake looked to Nememiah, "Yeah, i'd be glad to lead a group." Jake said. Finally..I get to actually lead a group, instead of being bossed around by a stubborn [censored] of a captain.. Jake thought to himself. Jake holstered his rifle, and took a swig of some whiskey he had in his pack. "I've got the leadership skills, and I've always wanted to lead something anyway." Jake said. His armor started to squeak from the rain that had fallen. Damn..this better not get rusted. Jake thought to himself.

"I'll take a group." said Rice. He had a little leadership and was somewhat bright. "I need some one who is fast and doesn't get tired like me, though."

A couple minutes later...

Alfons woke up chains shackles around his hands. "Where am I?" The man from earlier said, "Welcome to the Enclave's Official Gladiator Stadium! Here you may fight from your freedom. And this show is broadcasting all over the Capital Wasteland Radios." The man turned on the HAM radio and said, "Our first fight will be Alfons versus Mad-Man McKay!" A man came out with chainsaws strapped to his hands. "Get ready for a pound down, kid!" As Alfons was stripped down to his skivvys. A man said, "Here is some clothes." It was a Black shirt and jeans with holes in them. Along with some boots.

The fight had started, the man chased Alfons around the ring. Alfons noticed a switch and pulled it an Auto Axe swung down on a rope, He jumped up and let it cut his shackles. Then a random weapon fell down in front of Alfons, it was a crowbar. He picked it up, McKay swung at him but missed. McKay slammed his hands down, his chainsaws getting stuck in the process. Alfons took the opportunity and swung at the back of his head. McKay shook him off, turning around with a bloody spot on his neck.

Then an alarm went off, the announcer said, "Random weapon frenzy!" Random weapons fell from the crowd, McKay picked up a Super Sledge while Alfons picked up a Desert Eagle. Alfons ran at McKay ,while shooting a random spring trap shot Alfons up in the air. He landed on McKay's back and shot him about six times. McKay fell, he was defeated. Alfons won, and the announcer said"He's won,Alfons has won. Alfons walked through the newly opened door titled "Gladiator Barracks" Alfons said, "This is all to familiar...I hope Samantha and the others can get here soon."

(OOC: Not to be an ass LBHH, but don't speak or react for my character. Anything beside that is fine, especially since i'm not constantly online. Also, Satisfocolypse, pretty sure Desert Eagles weren't around in the '50s. Guess I'm in kind of a ball-breaking mood today, sorry)

Taylor roused himself and joined the discussion with the rest of the group. His mind whirred, thinking over the different combinations. If there were going to be two groups, they should both have a medic, or if anyone got shot, they'd be screwed. The observant eyes of the doctor fell on the dog beside Nememiah, coming to rest on the dressing on the wounds. Taylor raised his eyebrows and peered at Nememiah briefly. 'Maybe we've got another doctor here after all' he thought as he stood from his seated position. "Nememiah seems to have some medical expertise, so he should go with one group, and I'll go with another, that way both groups will have a medic with them" Taylor brought his hand to his chin rubbing it thoughtfully and thinking about the rest of the group. "Ed, the sniper rifle is better put to use when the enemy doesn't know where you are, so putting you with Jake doesn't seem like the best idea to me, so how about you join up with Rice?" He asked, still pondering the groups "Sam could go with Jake, so that way both groups have a melee specialist." Taylor didn't assume they would accept his groupings, but he added "If you don't mind, Nememiah, I'd like to go with Jake and Sam, if you guy's are good with these groups of course."

Edward said, "I wasn't planning on teaming up wth Jake, I'd be much better suited to someone like Rice anyway. In fact..." Suddenly, Edward heard the sound of crcking coming from his bucket. He opened it and found two Mirelurk larvae swimming inside. Edward noted that they had egg sacks, which meant that they wouldn't need to be fed for another couple of days. Edward thought, "This complicates things. I guess I'll just raise them until they're big enough and then I'll throw them into the Potomac.

I looked at the two groups forming, I walked over to Nememiah, "Kid, I think we should go with Jake, he looks like he has more experience," I muttered to him, "But if you want to go with Rice, that's fine, I'm sticking with you even if I don't like your decision." I straightened up, sighing, pulling out my rifle, I started tinkering with it. I pulled out some different round types, trying to see if there was a way to fit them into the ammo compartment. I sat down, fiddling with it, I managed to pull it apart a bit to fit in some 44. rounds and maybe some 303. rounds if I was lucky. I grinned, this'd be useful if I was out of 556. rounds. I decided to keep my backup weapon hidden, I couldn't show Nememiah while all the others were around. I just sat, thinking, waiting to see who Nememiah would decide to go with.

Nememiah thought about Andy's proposal. The ghoul was without a doubt the most experienced in the group. After all, he had been around for over sixty years. If he thought going with Jake was the best option, then it probably was. Plus Nememiah would get a chance to talk to him about the Outcasts - he thought back to the previous morning, where he could have walked on by, but the Outcast armour had caught his eye. If only there was some way they could make a deal with the outcasts, protect the wastes in exchange for tech... the wastes would be restored to the way they had been before. But he would need to talk to Jake about it first.

"Actually, Taylor, I think I'd be more comfortable travelling with Jake. I hope you don't mind."

Rice nodded. Seeing that most wanted to travel with Jake angered him. Jealousy erupted. "Okay Ed, lets get moving. We'll travel to the south side of the base, you guy's travel to the north. Hopefully we can easily infiltrate the place from there." At that Rice picked up his belongings and stuffed them in his backpack. "Me and Ed will travel together. We can move quicker and we won't have to stop to lolygag. All Ed needs to do is look after those hatchlings, which I can help with. If you don't want to infiltrate apart, Nememiah, then come around south of the base. And watch out for outposts and guards. Who knows what that place is like down there." When Rice finished he picked up his assault rifle and gave the others a hard look. "Don't slow down." Then he motioned for Ed and they started heading towards the coordinates. Somewhat in a south direction though.

Taylor smiled and responded "No problem." He didn't have any preferences about the groups. He reached into his bag and pulled a couple stimpacks and some chems and tossed them to Ed. "If you guys are going off alone, at least take these with you." He pushed his bag around. "Alright, so it's Rice and Ed, and on the other hand we got Jake, Nememiah, and Andy." said Taylor, close to a headache with his ponderings "That just leaves Sam and I" He turned to her. "So what'll it be Miss Fowl?"

Sam had been slumped, sat against a wall whilst the rest talked amongst themselves as groups. She looked from one guy to the other as they talked. Pushing herself off the rock she stood up looking at Taylor. "Hmm... The groups before sounded like a logical plan. That doesn't look as though that's happening though." She watched Ed and Rice walking away then back to Taylor. "I don't mind what we do Doc."

Taylor shrugged "Well at first I was going for tactics, but now I guess it's just splitting up." He glanced back at the other group and then at the dissapearing silhoutte of Rice and Ed. "Right now, we could both go with Jake's group, or both of us could go and hit the Enlcave from another direction." In preperation, Taylor pulled his rifle and checked it's chamber, ensuring it wouldn't get him killed as he waited for her desicion. He still remembered her pulling the knife on him, so he didn't want to rush her into a choice.

Nememiah looked at the increasingly distant backs of Ed and Rice. "We don't want to split into too small groups, we would be too vulnerable. You could still catch them, if you wanted to." He said, returning his gaze to Taylor and Sam. "Your decisions, of course. I just don't think two groups of two would last long on their own against an Enclave patrol. One group of three and another of four is much safer - that means you could either both join Rice, or split up."

Sam was silent for a moment, thinking and looking over at Rice and Ed. "Having two melee fighters against the Enclave wouldn't work either." She sighed and looked back at the remaining members of the expedition. "Either way, this group of five is too much to go in silently. This is more of a strike team." She looked up at Taylor. "Come on. We'll go after Ed and Rice... Or decide what we're doing while we're catching up." Sam then turned back to the others. "Good luck you lot... We'll see you in a day or so if we're all still alive." She looked down at the dog and knelt down. "And you my pedigree chum... Look after this sorry lot." She said with a smile, looking back up at the others as she scratched behind the dogs ear. She stood up and looked at Taylor. "We best get moving..."

"Well, good luck then." said Nememiah, shaking each of their hands. "Meet you in the Enclave base for a drink." He watched as Sam and Taylor gathered their items, and set off at a brisk pace to catch Rice and Ed.

Nememiah turned to look at his companions. It was strange - he had grown accustomed to the others company, and now it was just the three of them it felt almost lonely. Still, Nememiah felt safe between the heavily armored Jake and the ghoulified Andy. And then there was the dog - even it probably had more combat experience than Nememiah. He felt like a private amongst experience sergeants. The anology amused him - Sergeant wouldn't be a bad name for the mutt.
