How many of you, when "kicking in the bathroom stall doors" expected something to "jump out" at you when you first did it?

I certainly did. My first bathroom I went into and saw closed stall doors (I think it was in the Sunnyvale School), movies went through my mind. I kicked them open thinking, "I bet a Raider is in here, just waiting for me." Instead, I find lots of skeletons. What a place to die!

There have only been a few things "hiding" in the bathroom stalls(skeletons, a robot, some abraxo cleaner) in my experience. That doesnt stop me from compulsively kicking all of the stalls open. Its only a matter of time before they are rigged to blow or i catch a raider with his pants down. Might be a good place to hide the entrance to a tunnel.

Coming off of FEAR, yeah, I was initially somewhat nervous. I kinda cheated though, since I usually play in third person, I moved the camera up so I could look down in the stalls before opening any lol

Yes, the junked robot, chems. I once accidentally drank from a dirty toilet trying to fish some cherry bombs out of the bowl. The best thing was from Vault 22.

Spoiler
The place was overgrown with vegetation. Behind one closed door was a broccoli-man hiding. You could see him moving under the door.
But really, Bethesda missed many opportunities to put something really interesting or scary behind those closed doors.

It would get old fast if every bathroom stall contained a jump scare.

best toilet?

I compulsively kick the doors open and turn on ham radios only for there to be nothing of note most of the time :sadvaultboy:

We could start a support group or something... there has to be something on the radio at some time, right? Sooner or later? Hopefully Fallout 4 will make the ham radio more than a set piece.

I too always check out the ham radios. Just a thought, what if instead of the usual beginning set up to start, the main protagonist hears a ham radio broadcast that requests someone to come to a particular destination. The pc could respond immediately or delay but other wasteland npcs could also respond setting up a reward or consequence depending on the pc's decision. Why a ham radio broadcast? Perhaps a frequency the pip-boy doesn't pick up and because a lot of players turn those damn things on every time. Also allows npcs to get involved and maybe be competing for said unknown reward.

Yes! And that the devs purposely place things in the toilets to get you to "try and grab" them without using the toilets makes me think they are sick puppies!

I'd like to see something like that. Ham Radios are just eye candy right now.

There's a number of those in the game. Personally I think they're pointless. It's not like anyone is actually going to sit on the toilet to spring the trap, and they're very easy to spot. Which is probably why you don't find any of them in New Vegas.

Nicho I believe there are some trapped toilets in New Vegas. I think there is one in Nipton in the house with all the booby traps.

I wasnt aware they were so ubiquitous.

"The toilet trap is a simple electrical trap designed to shock anyone who decides to use the toilet, and can be disarmed by standing on the bowl of the toilet and removing the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Microfusion_cell_%28Fallout_3%29 from the tank. 35 microfusion cells are in the tank which provide the charge, and are added to the player's inventory if the trap is disarmed...One example of this trap is found in the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Tenleytown/Friendship_station's bathroom nearest the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Chevy_Chase_North exit. A skeleton lying near the bowl serves to warn the player of the danger. Others can be found in the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Robot_Repair_Center, http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_National_Archives, the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Museum_of_Technology, and in the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Statesman_Hotel."

I think they should just duct tape a mine to the back of the doors. It should fall to the ground when opened giving you precious little time to disarm if you didnt peak over or under the door first.

Are you the fun police? While they arent critical to the game they provide a bit of humor and an oddity to discover. That doesnt hurt anybody...except whoever unwittingly used the toilet.

There's no toilet trap there, just mines and pressure plates. And it would make sense in that situation, considering the paranoia of the previous resident. I have yet to come across a toilet trap in that game, and I examine all those stalls carefully. There's no telling when one of them might have a small piece of loot, and I'm a pack-rat when I play.

And how often is that likely to happen? There's absolutely no reason for anyone to sit on a toilet and spring the trap. Getting blown up or injured by a trap you weren't expecting is fun, disarming one that has no chance at all of harming you in anyway isn't. It amounts to nothing more than free loot, and there's plenty of that in these games already.

Fallout 2 had the best toilet trap of all. :chaos:

Spoiler
Although technically, the PC sets it themselves.

I played a Fallout 3 my first time in the middle of the night I was really tired and I opened a bathroom stall and a grenade trap dropped down and it scared the hell out of me.
