Why does almost everyone ignore Fallout: New Vegas?

Hi,

why does almost everyone ignore FNV? I mean, it's okay that you don't like the game, but ignoring it is not okay. I will explain. Everyone is talking about how awesome F3 is, but some also like FNV. I see this back in F4 reviews. Almost every reviewer out there compares F4 directly with F3, while FNV was the latest Fallout game until the release of F4. For me, as someone who loves FNV, it's annoying.

Well, Bethesda didn't make New Vegas, so many reviewers likely don't mention it when comparing FO3 to FO4.

And New Vegas gets lots of love and attention on this forum. :)

Exactly what Pluto said. FNV is made by Obsidian Ent.

But Bethesda did the QA and published the game. Why doesn't that count?

Because Bethesda and Obsidian have different approaches and different game designs.

Music reviewers focus their reviews on the recording artist, not the label. Book reviewers focus their reviews on the author, not the publishing house. Likewise, game reviewers focus their reviews on the developer. The developer is the creator of the work. The publisher merely distributes and publicizes it.

And, by the way, Obsidian had their own Quality Assurance team for New Vegas. You can view their names in the credits.

Comes down to development style/staff. Bethesda is constantly hiring and tends to make a similar game while another studio will do something completely different. Obsidian may have used the same engine with a lot of the same models but they did it vastly different compared to Bethesda. Story wise it really is apparent..

Fallout 4 can be considered more of a sequel to Fallout 3 given the East Coast setting, as where New Vegas continued after Fallout 1 and 2 on the West Coast
